I have the tarsals from the buck I killed with my smokepole last year. I have heard of these being used as a lure before. How and when are they used? Any tips would be appreciated.

Those things really stink bad and don't handle it without latex.
In using a tarsal, use it during the rut in hunting a nice buck. Not any buck, but "THE" buckSometimes it can help you and some other times it may work against you. The tarsal will usually chase the inferior bucks away and the bigger bucks doesn't want any other bucks on his does so he may come in for a battle. Good luck.

The best is when the gland is fresh ,Just taken off> is the time to keep it moist abd during hunting season in the frig over night. If it starts getting dried out I moisten it up with cattle, goat, horse juice. I also have urinated on it my self and had good results. If you have a menstrating female in the family them juices work the best
