RE: Hoyt stories
I've shot Hoyt since I was 15 and I still and always will. I have shot Mathew's,Bowtech,PSE and Martin and choose Hoyt. The only bad stuff I have heard is the factory strings aren't the best but I have not encountered this problem. My old Raider still has the same factory strings from 6 years ago. Back in the day Hoyt was getting a bad rap cause stores were setting them up incorrectly. I was told that by abow tecat Dick's Sporting goods.

RE: Hoyt stories
I killed my first archery deer with a prehistoric hoyt plastic-wheeled behemoth of a bow. It claimed that it hadsome letoff, but I really don't think it did.It was the biggest piece of crap. I was 14, and on the opener, Iput my little treestand on my back and rode my bike to some farm across the highway. Ihid my bike and went huntin'. At daybreak,I missed a doe at about 35 yards by no less than 20 feet. I was so nervous, I couldn't even aim. An hour later, I stuck a little runt doe right in the guts at 20 yards and she just fell over. I loved that bow.
If my memory serves me, I was using Easton Gamegetter green aluminum arrows - 2117 Lincoln Logs with some half bent and rusty Bear broadheads that somebody was throwing out. |
RE: Hoyt stories
The very first bow that I ever owned was a Hoyt Excel that my father bought me years ago. I used it for years but never was able to to kill anything with it but I really liked the bow. I later bought a High Country to use for hunting but always kept the Hoyt shot in. Well luck had it that the day before season two years ago, my High Country busted while target shooting the day before season. I had to take out the old Hoyt and luck had it that I double lunged an old doe from about 25 yards. That bow is still ready to shoot and hopefully Santa will be nice to me this year and bring me a new Hoyt.

RE: Hoyt stories
I love my Razortec. This will be my first full season to hunt
with it,so I can't wait to bust my first deer or hog with it I got it at the end of last season but only got to carry it a few days. It is great and I'm ready to break it in right! |
RE: Hoyt stories
Love my Pro-Tec with Spiral cams.

RE: Hoyt stories
I just switched to Hoyt 3 years ago. The protec is a great bow. I shot my first robinhood with it, and have taken numerous deer with it. I did have to replace the factory strings within the first year though.

RE: Hoyt stories
Throughout the years I have shot Jennings, PSE, Martin and others. When I was younger and had more money than brains, I was getting a different bow every year or two. What ever was the latest and greatest. None of them made me shoot better. It was practice that did that, not the bow. I got my Hoyt about 5 years ago and was at the local archey store getting a new peep just a couple years ago. While I was there, another archer was there with his $800 bow complaining that it did not shoot well and there was something wrong with it. I know the tech there and he turns and asks about my Hoyt, How fast, how does it shoot, how much was it, My response was " As well as I can shoot it " The tech could not find anything wrong with this guys bow,The guywas just under the impression that if you paid more it shot better.
I think most of the name brand bows on the market today are good quality bows and can all be shot well, if they fit the person shooting well and that person practices. Don't get me wrong here, I love my Hoyt, but it is because it fits me well and is comfortable, which makes me more confident. So the morale of my story is " Just remember, hopefully everyone finds a Bow or Manufacture they really can shoot well and are comfortable with, but realize that just because you like it, does not mean it is the right bow for someone else. I get a little concerned when Archers or even rifle hunters get into discussions of the better brand. We all need to realize it is a personal thing and to be happy we have found a brand that we shoot well. |
RE: Hoyt stories
bought my first hoyt four years ago, and I highly doubt I'll even try another bow. love it.

RE: Hoyt stories
I started hunting after I bought my first Hoyt Raptor in 1996. I went out a several times and never even seen a deer or had a clue.TheHoyt DealerI boughtmy bow from and later to become a goodfriendHoyt took me out before season ended,.to shoot a doe. Now her eis the funny part. I am6'3 and300lbs at the time. Roger is 5'6 150 and we were in the same tree. I ended up shooting a small buck 20 minutes after getting on stand after the shot the adrenaline dump hit me. Roger leaned over and said do not yell and to sit down because the tree was shaking so bad. I never noticed the tree shaking.. Well 10 minutes past and another buck walked down the same trail and I shot that one to to fill both tags. At this point the tree was shaking so bad Roger tells me to sit down again aand if i want I can yell out. So I did. I about blasted his little butt right out of the tree. I don't even remeber climbing down. I think I jumped the 20 feet. Roger is now a good friend and I owe it to Roger the Hoyt Dealer to take time out of his hunting season to help me. Thanks Roger.
