Default Bow-Holder On a Climber...

Do the bow-holders that are designed to be used on climbing treestands get in the way of one's feet and/or movements while in the stand? Do you really trust one in a strong wind? What if you accidentally, as is often the case a time or two during the season, cause the platform portion of the stand to lose it's grip WHILE your bow is in the holder.....is your bow pretty much going to suffer a 20+ foot drop?

I use a strap-on tree step to hold my bow while I'm doing something. Other than that it's on my lap. You can always tie a 3-4 foot safety cod to it. I always use one on my gun and often on my bow.

....Not that I have noticed. I ordered the Summit bowholder that mounts of the right side (I'm a lefty) of the bottom platform. It doesn't get in the way at all. Check this photo from Summit's site and you'll see.

Everything sticks out on the outside of the stand. I wouldn't keep my bow in the holder all the time either. Besides, I have the two platforms secured, so there is no way the bottom platform can slip down the tree. A 20' fall with a bow? Say bye-bye to the bow! [&:]

I use a similar one to Butch on a Summit and have never had a problem with the bow falling off when I was up in the stand...windy or not. I don't typically have it sitting in the holder though...maybe 30% of the time. It is normally in my hand...one can never be too prepared.

I use the screw in type , like the realtree guys use . Tryed the one that nounts on the stand and its too close , seams like you would eventualy nock your bow out and to the ground .

I've heard horror stories of falling bows with the stand ounted brackets. My old Tree Lounge had a similarly designed holder and I know that the Hoyt almost took more than one leap, especially in the dark. Those tree hangers seem to be the ticket for many guys these days. If you get the 3-tier version you can position your bow in front of you at the ready. The extra hooks are nice too for your accessories.

I use a long screw in step for my bow when I'm doing something other than sitting. If I'm sitting, it's in my lap. I will probably use a EZ hanger this year so I don't have to turn to get my bow if I'm standing.
