Court rules in favor of man who shot huge deer
Oklahoma City (AP) _ The man who shot what may be the largest whitetail deer ever in Oklahoma will get to keep the deer's antlers. Michael Crossland killed a 31-point buck in Tillman County last November. But the antlers were taken by the State Department of Wildlife Conservation after landowner Ryan Hunt accused Crossland of hunting without permission and a misdemeanor charge was filed. A Tillman County judge dismissed that complaint, meaning Crossland gets to keep the antlers that experts say could be worth 20-30-thousand dollars. The antlers haven't been scored under a standardized system, but taxidermist Gerald Hillman estimates they'll score 246 or 247 points and set a state record for non-typical antlers. Non-typical refers to a lack of symmetry on each side of the rack. The world record is a 44-point rack from Missouri that scored 333-and-seven-eighths points.
