hang-on or climber

I've been using a hang-on for 10 years, but have been considering the Summit Broadhead Backpacker

I really like my Summit Viper. Its is light, simple to set up and quite sturdy. I havent used a lock on in forever and a day. I prefer climbers. LAst lock on I had was stolen by some black guy.

I use both. I have certain areas that I hang stands for the season, and I always remain mobile with my climber. I prefer my climber, but it's nice to have a stand hung in a good spot that I can just climb right up and am done...especially if I only have a short time to hunt.
I think if you had to choose only 1....that's a no brainer. A climber is the only way to go.

I use the summit bushmaster stand and wouldn't trade it for any other stand. Where I hunt leaving a lock on stand in the woods is not an option. I may as well take the lock on stand and place it in my front yard with a sign reading take me please, free! And why tip off other hunters to your hunting locations. Also its much easier to move where the deer are.

I afraid of heights and my Summit is about the only thing I feel safe in. If it weren't for it I'm afraid I would have to hunt from the ground.

I bought a Summit Bullet Backpacker last year.
Pros
1. VERY COMFORTABLE
2. FEELS VERY SAFE EVEN WHEN YOU ARE STANDING AND I AM VERY HEAVY

Cons
1. Pain to put up and pack up at first but it gets easier.
2. Must be the right sized tree. Pine are great.
3. 24 pounds is the real weight
4. You will need latching type straps to keep it together.

I paid 300 last year from Cabelas.
Over all....I shot a buck from it in a Florida WMA ...I love it. Very comfortable. Have sat all day a few times.
