I dont care what kind of hunting show it is I like it... Especially if it is bowhunting. But my favs are Archers choice and Closing the distance. I liked the Dream season last year but guess it has changed alot to the way ppl are talking about it.

RE: the Dream Season ? puked my guts out
You know, there are ways to advertise without being so blantant. Scent Lok is one of Archer's Choice's sponsers, but it doesn't have near the exposure as it does in the Dream Season show. Why? Is it that Archer's Choice is a much better show than Dream Season? Maybe.
As far as scent control, you don't have to have a high priced Scent Lok suit to do it right. They are many less expensive measures that are more effective. Anyone that contradicts that is probably working for Scent Lok or selling it. |

Maybe. As far as scent control, you don't have to have a high priced Scent Lok suit to do it right. They are many less expensive measures that are more effective. Anyone that contradicts that is probably working for Scent Lok or selling it. A. Scent Lok and Scent Blocker are two different companies. B. Scent Lok is not a title sponsor of Archer's Choice show. Are they a sponsor? Yes. Are they the main one? No. Which would explain why they aren't given as much air time. C. Opinions on Scent Control vary. You have yours, and other people have theirs. Just because someone contradicts your opinion doesn't mean they are right, wrong, or being paid off by someone just to disagree with you. Some people think Ford is better than Chevy and others think we should all be driving electric cars. Is any one of them absolutely positively 100% right? No. That's the greatest part about hunting - we're all free to make our own decisions regarding the way we hunt and the equipment we use to do it. D. People who hunt for a living and are sponsored by a company don't just use their products for the money. You have to understand that at the end of the day they want to harvest mature animals on film in order to sell videos/tv shows and make a living. It's a job, and just like anyone else's job they want to use the best tools available to help them get it done. Why would they base so much of their livelihood on products that don't work? Would a professional mechanic rather use a cheap $1 screwdriver from the value bin at the local hardware store, or a $20 screwdriver from Snap-On? E. The entire premise of the Dream Season show is to judge these teams based on several different categories - one of which is scent control. Why is that so hard to understand? If they were in a shooting competition based on the number of bullseyes they shot at 40 yards we wouldn't be arguing that they shouldn't be judged on how well they shot. So why is there an arguement about something that simply shouldn't be being argued about? F. Last but not least - <---- it's a party in here! |

[/quote] Did you hunt before all of these scent products came out? Did you see big deer? I started hunting in the late 60's when there weren't many deer. People talk about more pressure on deer now, yes that happened, but there are a lot more deer now. We didn't pay as much attention to how we smelled as we did wind direction, height of stands, etc... I'll say it again, the scent suits are a con and if you need one, maybe you should learn how to hunt. |

E. The entire premise of the Dream Season show is to judge these teams based on several different categories - one of which is scent control. Why is that so hard to understand? So why is there an arguement about something that simply shouldn't be being argued about? Ding Ding Ding, we got a winner. And what is his prize Johnny? C'mon guys, if anybody watched the season last year, you know they stressed scent control. Whether it effected the hunt that they were on, didn't matter. They still critiqued it!! And now it is season 2 and these guys knew what to expect when it comes to everything involved in the competition. I am not one bit surprised that they are stressing scent control more this year. I am almost 100% sure that before they started shooting the show, they sat these guys down and spelled out what they would be critiqued on. Scent Control, Video Quality, How Quiet They Are and so on and so on. Also, did you notice how big the Scent Lock logo was on the start of the show....it is as bigas the Dream Season Logo. It doesn't surprise me a bit that they are this hard on them. |

RE: the Dream Season ? puked my guts out
Just imagine yourself a non-hunter and watching the show .......... you'd be hard pressed to be impressed and likely it would be a big turnoff towards hunting - as are most hunting shows IMO [:o]

RE: the Dream Season ? puked my guts out
Personally I liked the show. They found a niche and filled it. All the big names hire "pro-staff members" each year. Drury's just figured out how to make a whole season's worth of shows while they do it. Capitalizing onthesame thing all the other "pro-staff's" do...hiring people for their team. It's great marketing, and the Drury's are making plenty of cash doing something we all wish we could be doing. Cudos to them. If you don't like it, go do your own show, or don't watch it.

i have one question to ask... HOW OLD ARE YOU PEOPLE!? [>:] All i ever read on this forum is arguments! it is beginning to get my goat so to speak. i wish we could just agree to disagree but i cant see that happening anytime soon.
Thank You I am now through venting |

Beagle001,
There's just a lot of pent up energy waiting to be released on the first day of bow season!:DIt's just the way some of us are. |
RE: the Dream Season ? puked my guts out
None of it really has anything to do with the way or why I hunt as I do. I have fun and hunt for myself in the way I want. The old saying of "Hunt the Wind" is as true as it ever was. If you put yourself in the right place with the right wind you will win. If you don't, you have to get lucky or fail. That's hunting. The rest is sponsorship, marketing and a bit too much at times. I see where Datamax is coming from and have to agree with many of his points. All the TV shows have (out of necessity and in attempts to make lots of money) gotten more like infomercials. That's the good ole USA and business. Don't confuse the two folks. Hunting and what they say are two different things. Until someone just says I'll give you all the money you want with no strings attached.... the TV shows will be infomercials.

if you could have the perfect hunting video or tv show, what would you like to see?
whats most important? the editing, sponsors products, tips, how to's, the hunters, locations, type of dear taken, the story behind the hunt, etc....? obviously, most of whats on tv is not what we want to see.....or it can be improved upon.... any productive suggestions would be appreciated.... -hunt high [northeast ridge runner] |

RE: the Dream Season ? puked my guts out
I think these shows actually do some harm in what a new hunter precieves asthe way hunting should be. I watch the Men's Channel sometimes and usually fall a sleep during the first show. Wish someone would tell Penn's Woods that there are other animals to hunt beside turkeys!!! [:'(] :D My 6 year old daughter will sit for hours and watch these shows while I am snoozing.
In thelast few weeks, she is just fascinated by the thought of killing a big buck. Just for fun, I asked her how biga buck would have to be to shoot it. She looked at Tyler's first bow buck ( scored 123 and is a 4 pt (WC ) ) and said it would have to be a lot bigger then that becausehis buckistoo small. That one floored me!! She was dead serious. She also will make comments on the bucks that get shot in the shows when I am not sleeping through them. Very few are big enough for her taste. She can't see why they shot themwhenall they talk aboutin the beginning of the show is a goal ofshooting a big buck only to shoot something that would barely make 110 - 120 if that. I am going to have to quit letting her watch the shows andunbrainwash her or the next thing... we will only be able to hunt with a guide ( which they also push in every show )when she is old enough to hunt!!! I did a lot of explaining to Tyler when he was youngwhile watching the shows since most of these shows are not the way I hunt or what I think hunting is all about. I should have been paying more attention with what my daughter was getting out of these shows. I want her to enjoy her first years of hunting. Not worrying about if the buck is big enough to shoot!! Young minds are impressionable, just make sure you are the one shaping it and not some hunting show. Lesson learned with her. Tim |

RE: the Dream Season ? puked my guts out
I watch some not all of course, but if you dont like it, why dont we get together and make our own hunting video's, we got people here that hunt in each state just about, we could get our own sponsers, and hunt on peoples land that will let us off of the forum. Just a thought!

RE: the Dream Season ? puked my guts out
[:@]I'm glad to see a lot of people here putting down the SPORT that we love. Every hunting show has SPONSERS get it? They support them like we do hunting. If you don't understand that that's to bad. This is just my opinion. Hunting is hunting and hunters putting down other hunters is not good.
