Default RE: When should I start using deer lures? Rattling?

I live in PA, our peak rut date is usually targeted to the 15th of Nov. NH wouldn't vary that much so your looking into the second to third week of November. I've successfully used curiosity scents in the begining of our Oct season right through to some rut activity scents. I've also successfully rattled/grunted to a nice 11 pt that came into me on a visual the first day of our season starting the first few days of Oct. Each deer is different and will react or not react to scents, rattling and calling at anytime of the season. More importantly, I use calls, grunts, contact and estrous bleats throughout the season.

Your best bet for rutting or mating scents, call techniques would be towards the begining of doe rutting activity, prior to the peak or post rut.

For those people in Florida... we are in our peak rutting period and will be for the next month or so.
