RE: Couple questions for "Trophy" hunters
ORIGINAL: IL-Cornfed Very good post buckeyebuckhntrand I'm sure most of the folks here havecaught on to his game. Never any informative post, just conflict and confrontation. :( ![]() http://forum.hunting.net/asppg/tm.as...age=1&key= Obviously you haven't looked very hard ;) I offer my opinions and advice on many topics.........I usually stick to subjects on equipment I have first hand experience with like the WB, Stingers, SteelForce, Summit, Bowtech, Butchering etc. Every bit of info on this site has 20 threads saying the same thing in the search feature so sorry if I don't take part in every single thread that tells people they shouldn't go running after a deer 2 minutes after they shoot it [:o] |
RE: Couple questions for "Trophy" hunters
I don't have a probelm with any fishermen or hunter or the way they choose to fish or hunt..........as long as it is safe and legal. |
RE: Couple questions for "Trophy" hunters
ORIGINAL: rybohunter Yea we've heard that a hundred times from you C&R fishing only spread and became popular today because fishermen told other fishermen, that hey, maybe you don't need to keep every legal fish you catch and someday you may catch several bigger fish. That's all that is going on here. 1. That is not how I have seen and heard the QDM message spread. 2. C+R is more about numbers then it is about "trophy" fishing. |
RE: Couple questions for "Trophy" hunters
The hunting can be SO different from farm to farm, county to county, state to state that putting arbitrary limits on antler size is rediculous. It all boils down to hunting pressure.... If you have a huge farm with little pressure, killing a mature buck really isn't that big of a deal.... You will more than likely get atleast one chance each season..... However, if you hunt heavily pressured public or private land, you may go a decade without having a mature buck in range...... There are way to many variables involved for one guy to look down on another guy...... Each situation is different..... and in the end the old saying rings loud and clear.......... To each his own..... and ..... A Trophy is in the Eye of the Beholder..........
Beyond that the rest is pointless babble..... I will say this, with my longbow this season, I will shoot any deer that comes with my effective range..... With my compound I will shoot does and any buck over 100 inches |

I will say this, with my longbow this season, I will shoot any deer that comes with my effective range I think you meant to say: I will say this, with my longbow this season, I will shoot AT any deer that comes with my effective range[:-];) :D |

RE: Couple questions for "Trophy" hunters
Back with a vengence! I must have been on my medication when writing my last thread. Apolgize for nothing, You see what you want to harvest and shoot it, wheather it's a pup or a bull, you have eveyright to do it, that's what is so great about this passion. Of course you going to get hassled about what you shoot unless it's a monster it's been going on for decades, people admire those folks who shoot monsters evey year, but I met a man a long time ago who never killed a monster whitetail and he was the best hunter I've ever seen, this man was my DAD. He wasen't the best at killing deer he was the best because he spent time with me teaching me all his tricks, and sharing momments and indroducing me into the outdoors.

I've always practiced "Catch & Release"Bow Hunting. If I "catch" a deer comingto within bow range I "release" a arrow at it.[:-]

ORIGINAL: gutshot I've always practiced "Catch & Release"Bow Hunting. If I "catch" a deer comingto within bow range I "release" a arrow at it.[:-] I am one of those middle of the road hunters. We, meaning my dad and I, hunt on public game lands. We pretty much take any deer we see because getting a deer can be very tough and seeing a mature "trophy" type deer may happen once every 10 years. I am happy with any good mature deer that i can get. I have shot half-rack spikes to nice 6 pt bucks and was thrilled with everyone of them. Never once was I disgusted with what i shot. Don't get me wrong, hell yeah I would love to shoot a trophy buck, but who wouldn't. I am just not going to commit myself to strictly shooting only trophy bucks when hunting, to me, isn't about the size of the rack on the deer. Everyone should hunt deer the way they want as long as it is legal. |
