RE: How Far Would you shoot at An Animal?
I have a new stand site this year that is set to take game out of up to 45 yrds. I am practising to take that shot if I have to. I will take it if what I think is going to be there is what I think it is. It should come with in 25-30, but I'll be ready. So to answer the question, it depends on the site and me in this case.

I dont ever really shoot over 30 yards. I had a decent buck staring at my friend in a tree 35 yards broadside.. I thought about it.. decided to pass on it. 2 weeks later I nailed a 7 pointer(my 3rd 7 pointer in as many years) at 12 yards.

Assuming we are talking whitetail deer, 30 yards would be my limit.

In theory, 25-30 yards is my limit. In practice however I will admit that I have shot farther than this. A lot farther.... Good news is I have a 100% shot to kill ratio and have recovered 100% of the game I shot....... Thats 1 Shot, 1Kill, 1 Freezer full of tasty Vittles!

RE: How Far Would you shoot at An Animal?
i would limit my shots to 40 yards any more you run the risk of just wounding the animal that you hunt

RE: How Far Would you shoot at An Animal?
Saturday was my first day shooting and I was getting 3 inch groups at 20 yds. and I shot Sunday and got some pretty tight groups (easily within the kill zone)at 30 yds. I figure by the end of this month I should be able to take a deer out to 80-90 yards. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

30-35 for me, there is just to many things that can go wrong when you start shooting too far...
