RE: Chuck Adams

The article I read stated that Chuck shot three deer in Texas. I remember the smallest was 126 and the largest was only about 140. Both very nice bucks, but for a hunter like Chuck Adams to be taking bucks like that in a place like Texas just doesn't add up to me some how.

Thanks everyone...just wondering if Chuck ever put out a video. Sound like he's a man that stirs many emotions. Not sure if I like him or not all I've ever seen was pictures of his kills.

Give kudos where kudos are due. No one starts at the top, but once you're there seems everyone is aiming UP.

Kenny..think before you speak.

He never did what chuck did huh?? If were alive today he would have surpassed what chuck has done.He was dedicated to the sport more then anybody I have ever heard of. Did you bother to read his tributes that I posted alink to???? He did alot for only being alive 44 years.

He was the third bowhunter in the world to achieve a grand slam of sheep ( and the first and I believe the only one using a stick bow) and had money been no problem, would probably have been the first. However, being first wasn't all-important to him, since his reason for sheep hunting was simply a great love for hunting them. The best of his four species would each rank at least in the top 10 ( the world record grand slam with a bow). He had taken a total of seven sheep.
In Africa he took what would be the world record cape buffalo, if he had ever officially entered his trophies. Being extremely humble, somewhat shy and feeling it could change a person's priority for hunting, he entered very few of his multitude of P @ Y caliber trophies. He didn't feel it was wrong it just wasn't his reason for hunting.
While In africa he also saved his Guides life while he was being mauled by a Lion, paul shot her thru both lungs as she was attacking the guide.
You obviously dont know who Paul Brunner is either, excpet for what he post. I got the privilige to spend some time with paul after he almost life this past year in a cabin fire while hunting muskox. Paul told us many stories about his early bowhunting..he used to shoot compounds...anyhow he's done many great things for bowhunting also, but like many great bowhunters they dont feel the need to make everything public.

I have read a lot about Paul Schafer - and I truly admire the man and what he accomplished with and without the bow in his hand. In some ways, I think Paul accomplished more than what Chuck Adams ever will.

Still, I consider Chuck Adams in that league. His record Bison hunt was a fantastic read - something like 10 days without seeing a fresh track and then stalking the three bulls for 2 or 3 days before getting a shot ?! And he hunted with his Dad that hunt too, an integral part of bowhunting is the comraderie and I think Chuck showed us a little of that there.

It aint all about record game, I'll be the first to agree there. But I also think those who do have many animals in the books are not given a fair shake sometimes, Chuck being one of them.

Stealthy, you are correct about chuck not getting a fair shake sometimes..I know that he has gotten a good many kids involved in the sport because they want to try and be like him. He has taken alot of good animals no doubt about that..He's just not my type I guess!.

Clif and Di we will never know if paul would have got the grand slam be for chuck I have been bow hunting a long time I know the story of the great paul shaffer and I have nothing but respect for him as a bow hunter and bowyer and athlete. But I have no respect for the narrow minded paul brunner he has made a career out of compound bashing. He has a bad case of the little man syndrome.
