RE: Muzzy Broadheads Must Be Garbage
Why does Wal-Mart = trash. Some the same products found at Wal-Mart can also be found at local pro shops. However, you'll pay double at the pro shops. I bought a 3 packs of Muzzy heads for 14$. The pro shops were $25. Also bought a Realtree ez hanger for about $15, once again the pro shop was double that. I do like to support the local guys, but my Mama didn't raise no fool!!

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
I have heard from many people at different times on this board that no quality archery equipment (Not talking minor stuff like camo, boots, calls and such) would be found on the shelves of Wal-Mart.
In fact I have read many posts stating that the NAAG line of bows will always have a negative image until they stop selling in Wal-Mart because it makes them look like cheap crap. Well as many of you know by now because I am sure you have grabbed a 3 pack or 2 at $15..........Muzzy heads can be bought at Wal-Mart now. Does this mean that Muzzy now has a negative image until they get out of Wal-Mart because it makes them look like cheap crap???

I will bet you 500 packs of Muzzy's that the Muzzy's you find at Wal-Mart aren't the same as the ones you find at the Pro-Shop. For that matter neither are the thunderheads. They make them "special" for Wal-Mart with cheaper materials. Balk if you want but my sister-in-law is the Director of Operations at the largest Wal-Mart distribution center in the country. Protect your hunting rights, "Spay or neuter a liberal." |
RE: Muzzy Broadheads Must Be Garbage
I think Wal-Mart is great for carrying quality sporting products. API, Strong Built, Hunters View, Muzzy, Sims, Remington, Mossberg, and Mossy Oak, are just a few of the products at my local Wal-Mart.

RE: Muzzy Broadheads Must Be Garbage
silentassasin what exactly do you mean? Are you saying they use cheaper parts? Dont you think that could ruin the reputation of the product or manufacturer.

RE: Muzzy Broadheads Must Be Garbage
I'm throwing everything tonight that I bought at wall mart. You guys can come and get it. yell right |
RE: Muzzy Broadheads Must Be Garbage
Actually, I'll take that bet! Having worked for manufacturers in the past the fact of the matter is that they certainly do take the exact same product off the exact same production line and in many cases even in the exact same packages and sell to different retail distributers at different prices. Considering that typically less than 10 cents on the dollar at retail is the fully loaded cost of manufacturing (the rest being distribution and marketing) there are substantial margins to work with. Your local pro shop isn't going to have to volume and distribution infrastructure Walmart does.
No doubt that there are there are also many instances of factory seconds or production runs of lower quality finding discount retail distribution, but in this case given the economics of dealing with a Walmart size retail channel I would be very willing to place a bet in the Walmart Muzzy's being just the same as the higher priced pro-shop. (Just the simple thoughts of a cheapskate!) :-) ----------------------------- I eat, therefore I Hunt! "Vegetarian" - also translated as "Bad Hunter"!! |
