Do you hunt with buddies or go solo?
 

Do you hunt with your buddies? How many do you hunt with if so?

I was just wondering how many hunt with their friends.... most of my buddies that hunt go in groups of 2 and sometimes more.

I surely can't be the only one who likes and wants to hunt alone am I? I rarely hunt with others maybe 2-3 times a year.

I like to hunt with a buddy of mine but,the amount of time we can spend in the woods together seems to be going down. I have no problem going by myself and am just as satisfied doing so.So Jason if you read this get off your butt and let's go hunting a lot more this year bud!!!!!!:D

Most of the time alone. I like hunting with others, it just seems like our free time schedules don't always work out.

If by alone you mean alone in the tree, then I hunt alone.

I do however share the deer/elk/turkey/etc camp with my father. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Depends on which ranch I'm hunting on. Most of the time I'm the only out there hunting, but some times there might be 2-15 of us.

most of the time alone. i set my own schedule so when the chance arises i go .During hunting season i always travel with my bow in my truck

the majority of the time i hunt alone,if a buddy wants to go hes more then welcome to, but i wont wait for anyone when a say iam leaving at a certain time iam leaving !!!!!!

I used to hunt most of the time with my dad. Since he has lost interest, I pretty much hunt alone. On a few occasions I'll hook up with a buddy for a hunt. I like hunting alone, I do what I want and enjoy the solitude.

I hunt with another freind most of the time and sometimes there are three of us. I really enjoy our discusions about which herd went where and which bucks where with them. Our spots are limited to hunt the same woods most of the time. Some places three can fit just fine but others we may be spread out about a mile or two. There are times when we have been 100 yrds apart. Last year I wish we were when we had 2- 150's and an 180 class split us in less then 20 minutes. It was my fault for thinking stupid.

i usually hunt deer and turkey alone. i've always hunted hogs with at least one but usually two other people. i have taken other people turkey hunting with me. i usually hunt small game with at least one other too. it's more fun that way.

Most of the time I'll hunt alone ,but I do enjoy hunting with one friend occasionally,the only time Ill hunt with more than one guy is on the moose hunt .

Durring bow season here in IL, I hunt mostly alone.Durring the shot gun season though I love to hunt with my brother,and others,.The last couple of slug seasons I hunted by myself,which was kinda lonesome.I don't know why,but when I bow hunt, I like hunting by myself but durring firearms season like to hunt with others .Maybe someone could splain this to me??

My time is pretty much split down the middle. I hunt alone, and with buddies. Never any more than 2 though. I enjoy very much my time alone in the field. Even when I am with buddies, we are in seperate parts of the woods, so I get alone time then as well.

Hunt alone seems with my work schedule nobodys off when
I am and enjoy the quiet in my ground blind,me and my dog
cant complain tho lucky to be out there I guess!:)

I hunt alone and with buddies! I always have my gear in my truck so there are alot of times I go solo after work or in the morning. We also have a camp going on for the first 2 weeks of November! I sit alone on stand except when my son comes along!:)

I enjoy hunting with my Son, but his job, and college keep him so busy that it's usually just me.

Alone mainly (hence the I Stand Alone)

But if someone wants to come with me that is great as well :)

I hunt solo except for our Kansas hunt. On the Kansas hunt a lifelong friend and I enjoy the trip and hunt.

I usually hunt alone and prefer it over hunting with others. My son would come along a few times each year before he was old enough to hunt and I liked that. Last year he started hunting but ended his bow season just 3 days into it by shooting his first buck. :D He did come out with me quite a few times after that but for the most part I hunted a lone.

Hopefully this year and the next few years we get to spend more time hunting together before life takes him away from me. I will have enough time to hunt alone once he is gone.

Because of my schedule, I usually hunt alone. I would much rather hunt with friends though. When you're by yourself, you can't ask "Did you see anything?" when you come out of the woods! I enjoy hearing their stories as much as telling mine.

i've always liked hunting by myself, as a matter of fact that is all i ever did while rifle hunting for the over 10 years but when i got turned on by a friend who gave me an old bow to start off with a few years ago i really liked the company of others and sitting down in camp together,yeah i can tollerate being the "camp B*tch" when it's my turn to cook or get wood but that's part of the deal when your with others. i'll probably use the 3 weeks vaca. i got to hunt with our camp the two others solo. i can live with that.

I frequently turkey hunt with others, and usually call in more birds for others than I call in for myself. I also rifle hunt for deer with others quite frequently, usually in a camp. Archery hunting though, I almost always hunt alone, I don't like to share or show my spots.............;)

I usually hunt alone. I prefer to hunt alone. Sometimes I will hunt with my brother in law, stepfather, and nephew as long as they give me some breathing room.:D

i hunt mainly alone when bowhunting. I'll go with maybe one other person. I try to go with another person in the am because I am so unmotivated to get out of bed and he doesn't have a deer with a bow yet.

Same here.

I usually bowhunt alone. I have gone duck hunting with 2 or 3 guys one time and also tagged along on a big goose hunt with about 8 guys. It was fun - freezing cold - but fun.

I welcome the thought of hooking up with a few VA guys and going hunting! [8D]

I hunt alone 90% of the time but I honestly prefer to hunt with a buddy. There are a variety of reasons that I prefer to hunt with a buddy. One of the places that I like to hunt is a 45 minute drive and then a 20 minute boat ride. So having someone else there to split gas money is a tremendous help. Also, being that far away it helps to know you have a buddy there if something should happen to you or them. It helps pass the time and gives you another set of eyes in the woods that can be covering a spot that you couldn't cover. We hunt all day and we take radios and we talk every hour on the hour after 9:00 o'clock and it not only helps pass the time but if your buddy is seeing deer and you aren't then you may need to move. If neither one of you are seeing deer then they just may not be moving or it may be time to pull and go to a new area. Also, it's nice to have someone there to share the excitement and the story with if you make a good shot or have a close call etc. Last but not least it's nice to have another guy on the end of the drag rope for those long pulls;)

I'd estimate 90%+ of my hours logged in the qwoods hunting are solo. Actually most of what I do in the woods or mountains is solo. I like to have time to reflect on life, nature, the world ect, without having to worry about anyone but myself. I guess I'm just greedy like that although I'm sure once my boys are old enough all that will change.

Both. Most of the time im alone (because i go a lot), but every now and then a friend gets away and comes down to hunt with me.

It depends.

In bow season, I usually like to go it alone, just because I'm peaceful like that. Turkey hunting, I have better success when I'm out by myself, but there's a couple guys that I do enjoy going with.

Now in rifle season, I usually only have a few doe tags, so I like to go to deer camp where the more, the merrier. Those guys don't take hunting too seriously, so it's a lot of fun. The woods up there are huge and camp sleeps about 20, so it's not like we're cramped for space.

I guess it depends. To sum it up best, I like to hunt alone when my buck tag is empty. I stay out from dark-to-dark, and log long hours in the tree when my schedule permits. Most guys don't like to take it that seriously, but I do. After I tag a buck, I like to take other guys out, videotape, and just enjoy whatever free time I have.

I spend the majority of my hunting/scouting time alone, especially with whitetails. Elk and turkeys I enjoy tandom hunting during their breeding seasons for calling purposes, yet I still do most of it alone. Bear mostly alone. It sure is nice to have a hunting partner when the elk or bear are down :D I can't wait for my son's to be big enough to hunt and pack!

With a bow I hunt alone mostly. With guns I usually hunt with company. Just works out that way.

I do both. There are times where I enjoy hunting alone and being secluded to make sure to enjoy a day's hunting without relying on meeting anyone or having my hunting buddy disrupt my hunt. However, there are times where hunting with my buddy is enjoyable and desired. It's great to meet for lunch in the woods or at dark to share with each other what we saw or didn't see and compare results.

Broken down, I'd say about 75% of the time during bow season I hunt alone either from dawn until 9AM or 2PM until dusk...and the other 25% of the time it's with my hunting buddy. During shotgun season here in NJ, it's more like 40% hunting alone and 60% of the time with my buddy. I guess it's because during shotgun season we'r emore successful and help each other out with dragging deer, etc.

But, even when hunting alone I call his work voicemail and provide him with complete details of my hunt, what I got, what i saw, etc.

I like hunting with buddies. Sometimes I go alone though. When we hunt together we usually set in stands a mile apart or so and meet up later.

I enjoy the company of hunting buddies while enroute to our hunting locations, when looking for a deer one of you shot, and when returning home discussing the days events. While actually hunting, I prefer to go solo. Because of my work schedule, I usually am solo.
