I need some good advice on arrows, i am currently shooting easton axis 400's, but i really dont like them all that much.. Any one have any good recomendations on some good brands. I have heard a lot of good from the gold tips so i was thinking about getting them but thought i would ask you guys first... Thanks in advance and here is my setup

From the thread post I have an idea you're contemplating GT's. IMO the high end GT's are as good as any shaft on the market. They'll cost you a bit but IMHO are worth every penny.

Is there a price range you wish to stay within or are you looking for the best?

Without knowing exactly what you're looking for in an arrow it's had to recommend a specific shaft. What exactly are you looking for, light arrow or heavier arrow, the straightest most closely matched arrows you can buy or just good enough?

I'm a stingy bastard but not when it comes to arrows. The arrow is what delivery the broadhead to the vitals and I want to know shot after shot is going to be consistent and hit the spot I pick. That's why I spent $100 on arrows but I'm convinced that any arrow less then the best is inviting trouble.

im willing to spend any amount of money on them i just want some good carbon arrows that are the stratest and shoot the best. I will spend $200/doz if i have to.

My favorites are gold tips, carbon express terminators, and PSE. I have had no problems with any one of the above.

Mind if I ask why you dont like the axis? I have heard little personal experience about them, but have read great things about them.

Well you shouldn't have to spend $200 to ge the best arrows on the market. I here a lot of good about ACC but I've never shot them. I can vouch for GT pro series shafts. Gt guarentees them to be withing .001 for straightness and +/- 1g per dozen. I've heard some complaints that people didn't get the advertised specs but that has not been my case. The guy I ordered my shafts from is about 10miles from the gt plant. He grades the arrows to ensure they are w/i spec and if they're not he dosen't ship them. I tried to by pro series shafts locally but found noone was even willing to order them. I'd tell people what I wanted and they'd try to sell me what they had as opposed to what I wanted.

If you're serious about the GT shafts and can't get then locally send me a pm and I'll give you Doug's info. His prices are good, service is excellent, he offers custom fletchings 4 degree off set as well as helic. When and if I ever have to replace my GT's I'll be placing another order with Doug.

Shot 3 hogs and 1 deer last year with Gold Tip 5575's and innerloc broadheads. Got complete passthrus on every animal and recoverred each arrow. Arrows spun true after each shot. I am deffinately a Gold Tip shooter. They are deffinately worth the money.

If you fletch yourself, you can get GT pro hunters for about $80/dz. for the shafts. Great arrows and very durable.

If price is not an issue, I highly recommend the Easton ACCs or A/C Super Slims. I'm not a big fan of all carbon arrows.

I shoot Carbon Tech Cheetahs and love them. They are one of the lightest arrows on the market and I use them for both hunting and 3-D. The have a few different weights to choose from. Cheetahs being the lighest, then Whitetails, and Rhinos are the heaiest. Don't let people brain wash you into believing that you need a heavy arrow for better penetration and Kinetic energy. I'm shooting a 330 grain arrow with a 63 lb. draw weight (292 fps Hoyt Cybertech) and get better penetration than guys shooting 430-450 grain arrows with 68 lb. draw bows (approx. 265 fps). I shot 2 mature bucks last year and had pass throughs on both of them. One was right under me and my arrow made it all the way through the top of his back at very slight angle and went through both lungs and his heart and came out of his brisket. The second one was at 20 yards and went through both lungs. I also shoot Wasp Boss Bullet broadheads and love them. They fly exactly like my field points and have fixed blades. I WILL NOT shoot mechanicals because I know that you don't need to if your bow is properly tuned - no matter how fast it is! When you shoot mechanicals you have one more thing that can go wrong and if you're either paying $$$$ for an outfitted hunt or you're spending countless hours in a treestand waiting for a hard earned trophy, you don't want to miss him because your blades opened up before they hit and your arrow veered off.
