Finally shot my Reflex

Finally got to shoot my Reflex Grizzly today After some playing around and some expert help ( thanks Nubo) got her sighted in. Its been over 15 years since I had shot a bow so I have a long way to go but spring is coming and I have no doubt I will have it dialed in for my September bear hunt. Already totaled an arrow so I am thinking of sticking with cheaper shafts for my next dozen (GT expeditions) as this might get expensive. I liked the bow but I can see me buying Nubo's patriot off him as he has his eye on a new Bowtech already :D Again John, thanks for all the help.

That's not a problem Terry ,I was glad to help out, but next time I won't party the night before ,since my head wasn't into the job and was working in slow motion LOL. Terry be sure to inform everyone who buy's a package to double check everything to be sure everything is tightened down properly. Terry's cable guide fell off while he was shooting and luckily there was no damage done ,but we had to fiddle to get it back to where it was supposed to be and lose the vibration that it caused . Did you tell these guy's that you Robin hooded an arrow LOL
Terry ! shooting like that for a guy who hasn't shot in 15yrs or so could get pretty expensive on arrow's . I think i might just open up a shop .LOL

And yes Terry I really liked that Allegiance ,but that's why i had to leave when I did ,because I just might have ended up buying it and then the sh-t would have hit the fan when I got home LOL.
I think I'm most likely going to have to wait till next season for that new bow ,but I'm not tired of my Dually yet anyway's .
What did you think of shooting my Dually ? I did notice your eye's light up like a Xmas tree .

Other than the fact that it cut my group size in half on my first try and is actually a touch long for me, yeah I'll buy it off you if it can be shortened down to 27"DL. :D

There's definetly nothing wrong with the Reflex Grizzley,I helped Terry get it setup and the only complaint was that buying a package deal, you have to make absolutely sure evrything has been tighened down correctly ,I handled Terry's bow and it drew very smoothly and and was somewhat surprising to me that it drew that nicely. He didn't seem to have any issue's with it once we got it setup .My opinion is the Grizz is a great bow for it's money, and if your new to the sport it's the way to go ,or if you don't have a whole lot of money to spend but you want to bowhunt, this bow would definetly siut your need's .

I am quite pleased with my Grizzly and do recommend it. The only thing I would say is I would not buy a package deal again. Start with the bare bow and select the rest and site that you prefer. I ended up buying a wisker bisquit and a impact archery cosmic sight. Not the end of the world as I can always put them back on when I trade up the bow but I also got a great deal at Basspro on my package. As for how the bow shoots, very smooth draw and very little vibration ( It does have a Stealth 6" and string leeches) she is set at 65lbs and is quite easy to draw. Good value for the money. Do not regret my purchase at all.

im with icedragon my bow is around 10 years old. im thinkin about a new one and it was either hoyt or grizzle i shot the buckskin last night and it was kinda loud. is the grizzly loud?

TerryM 03-05-2005 11:08 AM

RE: Finally shot my Reflex

I shot mine beside Nubo's Bow tech Patriot so it did sound louder than his but I would expect a bow that costs almost 3 times more to perform better. All I can say is try one if you can, very easy drawing and smooth for the money. They are made by Hoyt and in fact have the same Cam and 1/2 as many Hoyt models. The Grizz also has sealed bearings also. The biggest difference is mine has a magnesium riser as opposed to a machined aluminum one and my limbs are not laminated. Its still rated at 305 IBO. I like mine and plan on killing a bear with it in September.

I paid $389.00 at Basspro in Toronto Ontario. Thats Canadian pricing by the way. It came with a quicktune 1000 rest, 3 pin fiberoptic site, and a 2 pc Reflex quiver. That was a sale price. It is now $389.00 without accessories. Shop around, looks like there are lots of deals around.

I agree. Thats where the magnesium riser shows its downfall.

RE: Finally shot my Reflex

Whether the riser is magnesium or not I was pretty impressed withTerry's new bow ,for the price of it it work's as well as any in the market ,it's pretty quiet, draw's very smoothly and I was surprised that it felt like I was pulling alot less weight than I actually was ,it also felt very nice in the hand .I'm impressed with Terry's bow and would reccomend it to anyone getting into archery or hunting .Terry has some very nice touch's on his bow ,he's added a Impact Archery Cosmic sight which is second to none for hunting and he's also added a stealth 6" Stabilizer which also is second to none ,with some new arrow's and maybe ,just maybe i can talk him into a drop away rest he''l have an excellent bow ,not that it isn't now but it definetly will be better ,oh yea I forgot we might even put some new string's and cable's on it .Wow this bow will be awsome then .

I know Terry is shooting a pretty heavy arrow 11.? per inch at 27" with a 100gr tip and when he run it through the chrony it was shooting 256fps. That's not bad at all .It would definetlly be a good hunting bow.

Actually Nubo that was tested with a lighter arrow than my red heads. It was a 340 gr arrow that flew 257 fps. I checked my draw weight on theWolfs Den scale and she marked 64lbs a little less than my scale which said 65lbs. For anyone interested that with a 27" draw setting on a 27-30 cam. I also have a nocking point, burgher button and a tube type peep on the string and 2 leaches on the bowstring. All said and done I was very impressed with that arrow speed for that bow and set up. I still think the grizzly is a great buy.
