as much as you can handle and pull from different angles. i like to be able to shoot mine while sitting if i have to so i set it a little lower that what i can pull.

It's the poundage that you can pull back slowly and smoothly without struggling when you have been in a cold treestand for about 2-1/2 hr's.
I shot my first two bucks with a 45# recurve. Anything above that is perfect. Too many guys are over-bowed in my opinion. If you have to point your bow at the sky and reef on it, then bring it back down to horizontal to shoot, you are over-bowed and moving too much.

That's exactly why I stay with a 60# bow over the 70#er I can shoot inside out with it in any weather , I can also shoot the 70#er as well but in cold weather I have problem's getting it drawn after I've been sitting for awhile.

What ever is comfortable for you. With the arrow technology, todays modern bow materials and sharp broadheads, you can match your arrow to a comfortable draw weight and have more then enough energy to drop whitetail.

The perfect poundage sends the arrow to and then through the target ,
anything over that is pretty much just a shoulder surgery waiting to happen .

What's the point? As everyone has said, it is not really neccessary to pull alot of weight with modern bows. A pass thru is a pass thru. As long as you have enough to get the job done, any more is useless.
