I was in an archery shop today talking to the salesman about the Muzzy dropaway rest. He sells and installs for $120 plus tax and I got a few questions from users of this rest. I was wondering from you guys is this rest maintenance free and does it make any noise at all? Does the rollers that ride on the cable guard wear out and start rattling? How much wear, if any, is on the cable guard? For the price, do you guys think it is a big advantage over the conventional rests when under hunting situations? I now have a 3-prong shoot thru rest (I think made by Bodoodle) that have plastic prong tips and it's an alright rest, but the arrows do make a slight noise when drawing. I have to keep them vaselined during hunting days. Also, any arrow that has the slightest wobble at all, even at the insert, will not group at all with the current rest I have. Other than that I can't complain with what I have, been using it for a few years and have taken my share of deer with it. The pro shop person tells me he can take a carbon, aluminum, both in slightly longer and shorter lengths, and group them all pretty well out of the dropaway at 30 yards. Have you guys played around experimenting with different arrows to verify this?
When changing from one arrow to another (alum. vrs carbon), does it require major resetting of the sights? Any other helpful insights to share with me about it? Any problems, at all?

Any help you veterans can give will be appreciated.

I really couldn't answer with any type of authority on your aluminum/carbon shooting question. I would guess that even if the weight was the same due to the larger diameter of the aluminum vs carbon it would sit higher on the rest initially therefore not impact at the same point. How much different I wouldn't know off hand.

I can tell you that I have had the ZE on for about a year now and took it Elk hunting for two weeks and chased whitetails all fall/winter with it and the ZE performed flawlessly. It is much tougher than I thought it would be. When I picked up my bow this spring and shot it through paper at eight feet it still shot a perfect bullet hole. That is after hiking up and down mountains, hills, and trees with no adjustments.

I don't think fall aways are any type of magic bullet. One can get great flight with conventional style rests or there wouldn't be any. The thing that I really like about the ZE is the fact that I never have to think twice about my arrow and its position on the rest when the moment of truth comes. It captures the arrow the same way every time. Draw, aim, and fire!

My feeling is this rest is just as quiet as most rests out there, more than some. As far as drawing the arrow over the arm the mole skin removes any audible sound that I can hear. I was wondering if I would lose any speed when I put mine on but I didn't lose a thing. I don't notice any excess wear on the cables and the cable slide shows no signs of being sloppy at this point. For hunting purposes it is deadly accurate, I have some Robin Hooded arrows for proof, not to mention a number of nice animals harvested with the rest last year.

I sympathize with you on cost. I was certainly skeptical when I bought mine. Look around there are places you can get them cheaper and as mechanically challenged as I am I put my own on with no video <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>. Of course you might have different challenges with your preference of bow than I did, so you may want this guy to install it.

I would definitely give this rest a &quot;thumbs-up&quot; and I have no problem recommending it to my friends. <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hey guys, I really appreciate your replies. I havent yet seen any negative replies from anyone that owns a ZE rest in all the other posts. I want the rest, but am not dis-satified with the one I have now. I'm still convincing myself that I &quot;need&quot; to spend that $100 bucks. The ZE rest sounds all good, and I'll probably pick one up at Bass Pro's Fall Classic this weekend.

after killing my self with a 2 prong rest i finall got a MZE and installed it on my G2, was a piece of cake about 20 minutes,and took only 3 arrows to tune. my shooting went from so-so to great. I have so much more confidence now, to take shots all the way out to 45yards. i am shooting from a stand with a keller and i can hit baseballs all the way out to 35 yards,i love not worrying about the arrow falling off the rest while drawing, and i do not torque the arrow like i used to, GET IT you not be unsatisifed

Ga...I beat myself up for a while over spending the $ for it too. After alot, and I mean alot...of debating whether or not it was worth it...I went for it. Best $ I ever spent for any accesory, no doubt. Of course...like others said, you can probably find it cheaper other places, and put it on yourself. None of the proshops in my area even sell them, and one didn't know what it was <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> so that's what I did. It will be the best 120 you will ever spend . of coarse you can get it for less and do it your self they give you a video to guide you step by step through the install . Ive had mine since they came out not one problem . they are very quiet and I'll bet you shooting improves .

I to have the muzzy rest on my extream solo,And if your woundering if theres any clearence problems (not droping away fast enough)I shot a 350 gr. arrow @ 70 lbs through a chronograph @ 322 fps and not even a mark an any of the vains......Easy to tune and worry free....take the leap and go for it........

Hey guys,

I bought the MZE today at the Buckarama, for much less than the local pro shop gets for them, 25% less. The dealer at the Buckarama also threw in a camo MUZZY cap with the deal, all for 90 bucks. It took me about 25 minutes to install, and that was because no allen wrenches came with it and I spent about 10 minutes looking for the right ones. Didnt get any time to shoot it today, but will let you all how how I like it in a few days.
