Default Bow string and cable question

What are the best brands and/or types of strings and cables for compound bows? What should I look for in a string/cable? I will be getting my first bow soon, which is a double cam bow, and was wondering what are the best (quality) strings and cables to put on. Thanks.

Default RE: Bow string and cable question

You're going to hear a lot about Winner's Choice and deservedly so. But check out www.Prostrings.com. They are also very good but at less than half the cost. The quality is IMO just as good and the materials are the same, no matter who makes them. The best thing is to do a search about custom string makers and then check their websites.

One thing you can be fairly certain of. The strings on most bows are not all that well made. Martin and Pearson are two exceptions. Of some others I can't say. And most replacement strings you get in archery shops aren't all that great either.

You really need to find out which string makers make decent strings. If you have a shop that carries any of them then you might use them. Otherwise, I'd just order rigging from Shel at Prostrings. Actually, his don't cost much more than a lot of the generic brands.
