I tried the string leeches when they first came out and i think that they are a good product but there downfall is that they dont last very long. I try to shoot at least 4 times a week and every day during the season and found that the whiskers hold up alot longer even though they do slow your arrow down a little bit more

Well, as I said, I spent some money and got the Alpine string-things. The jury is still out. They don't seem to do quite as good a job as leeches, but they are still on the string and in one piece. I don't have them served in as I have a lot of twists in the string. They have a tendency to turn 90 degrees. That is, when you put them in they are more or less horizontal. They want to turn and face vertical. But they are still there and doesn't seem to matter. I chrono'd the bow and lost a whopping 3 fps, about the same as the leeches.
Also got the Alpine limb savers for split-limb. Now these are definitely different. No plastic grommets, no screws and no rubber glued to the plastic. Just a silicon thing that easily twists onto the limbs. My fear was that it would move around or slide on the limbs, but that hasn't been the case. I can't seem to be able to tell a difference between them and Simms, and at about $8 cheaper I think they are the better product. If I encounter any other data I'll post again.

I personally like the string leeches. I know that they come apart after awhile but they really work well to silence the string. The new ones are even better.

Have any of you tried the new BowTech string silencers? BowTech claims that they will not slow the string down.

I use catwiskers as they've always been super durable, and functional, but If the BowTech ones work as promised, it might be worth looking at.

I need some new string silencers too since the cat whiskers I had on there deteriorated off quicker than usual. Would the string silencers be effective in helping to silence the cables as well?

I don't know how many years I have used cats whiskers but they have never let me down.

I have never put them through the string. I just serve them on with serving thread. I too used to hunt in Ohio and Indiana with them as well as here in Washington State and in spite of the weather . . . have never had them freeze up on me.

Again, I feel compelled to see if anyone else has tried BowTech's new string silencers.

Not being a nag or anything, but I'm being pushed to buy some, and was hoping for info before I have to make the choice.

I use cat whiskers too, string leeches wear out way to fast & are not worth the money. I run my whiskers throught the string & then serve them into the string......they never move & seem to help stop a little bit more twang by doing this....heck it's not worth the effort to run them your string to be honest!
