Default TruBall Tornado release

I recently bought this release to replace the one I lost last year. The store gave me a discount because the release was just sitting on the shelf with no price tag, packaging or instructions. My first experience with the Tornado was the round of indoor 3D I shot this past weekend. Took my 9 yr old along with me and we had a great time. I shot pretty well with the new release so I'm satisfied that it will work fine for me. Don't expect any problems with it.

The Tornado's features include a 360 degree swivel head, adjustable length, pivoting wrist connector, velcro adjustable straps.

When I first used the release, I found the wrist strap to be uncomfortable. It left some wrinkles on my wrist. I believe I had it on too tight. Some sections of the leather gave me a slight rug burn too. Of course, it was a better after I loosed it up some. I only mention this because I never really had that problem with my old release.

The swivel connector is great. Allows you to tuck the trigger mechanism right out of the way like under your coat sleeve. My old release could only pivot to the left or right which never really got it out of the way. It was still cumbersome to some extent.

The adjustable length is really only three seperate length settings. You undo a hex screw then choose the appropriate length. I first set it to the longest length. Seemed to fit okay but I believe I will shoot better on the middle setting.

So far, I haven't heard any noise from this release. My old release made a definite click but this thing is silent.

If your in the market for a new release, give the Tru-Ball Tornado a try. They make a couple of different versions of this too. Mines pretty much the stock no-frills version. You can get more adjustment features plus a glove version if you so desire.

MJL927,

I concur with your report. I've had a TruBall Tornado Deluxe for about a year now and it has proven to be a great release for me. Very durable, smooth and silent. Being able to tuck the trigger arm up your sleeve when climbing a tree is a great feature. I've found that the wrist strap forms to your hand after awhile and feels good. I think at first it's a little stiff because it's built so sturdily.
