RE: bow speed
nice try on trying to sell your bows, but I think you got busted. Just my opinion.
There are alot of honest people on here that just want to help and learn from others experences. Keep it real!!! |
RE: bow speed
So let me get this straight. I can have a personal bow that I enjoy very much and then I can post info about it, just curious about what other people are getting for true speed vs. advertised speed of a bow and just because I sell Pearson (in addition to 8 other bow lines-I have not posted any other info about any of the other lines I sell, because I personally own only one) I am now "busted for trying to sell bows." Get a grip - I was just curious about what other people were getting with their bows. Did you see an ad for my site? No. So don't feed me a line about trying to sell bows. If that were the case, then anyone that has a comment to be made is trying to sell something.

RE: bow speed
The dagger has an IBO 0f 312 - NO WAY you are getting over 300 fps at 28" draw I am not trying to rag on you or anything but have you had the crono checked out and recalibrated? What do you have on the string? I just cant see a bow with an IBO rating of 312 @70lb 30" draw with a 350gr arrow doing over 300 with a 28" draw lenght even with nothing on the string. |
RE: bow speed
I have only a string loop on the string and a brass nock. Also, my arrows are the CX200's fletched with NAP QuikSpin's and 85 gr. points. The total weight (using 13 grains per vane as I have been told and 7 grains per inch on the arrows as noted on CX's website) for my 27" arrows is 353.5 grains. This includes nock, insert, flechting, field point, and arrow. I got the chrono new straight out of the box, so I wouldn't assume that it needs to be recalibrated. I know it doesn't seem like it could be true, but I'm telling you that's what it said. I have since turned the weight down a bit (67-68#) and am running 296 pretty consistently.

RE: bow speed
I have to agree with the others, something just ain't right.
Assuming you are using the standard TCX nocks I get the following: 27" x 7 gpi = 189 grains Insert = 11 grains Nock = 8.7 grains Vanes = 39 grains Broadhead = 85 grains Total Weight = 332.7 grains IBO speed = 312 -2" D/L -20 String Loop -2 Brass nock -3 Total = 287 fps underweight arrow +6 fps Total = 293 fps This sounds more believable. I'd really suggest checking your speed on another chrono, just to be sure yours is not out of calibration. ;) |
RE: bow speed
Sounds fine to me! I'm getting 246 with 70lb, 29" Mathews Q2.:)

RE: bow speed
Mike from Texas,
Thanks for the breakdown in regard to weight - very in depth. The chrono is brand new, but I'll have my bow checked on another. Thanks, Jim |
