Hoyt MT sport
Hey guys I got a question about a Hoyt MT sport. Galyans is clearing out a bunch of older archery stuff and has one on clearance for $199.99. It is new but just never sold, probably a 2002 or 2003 model. It has a draw weight range of 50-60 pounds but will go down to about 43 pounds which is perfect for my son. It has the smaller version of their old single cam, don't remember the name.
My question is what do you guys think about the MT sport? I have never owned a Hoyt so I am coming to the Hoyt experts for some information. I have it on hold until Friday so I could check with you guys.
Much appreciated.

RE: Hoyt MT sport
bigbulls,
I had one of the MTSports the first year that they came out with them (2001?). Nice, forgiving little bow. Very accurate and not that far off speedwise from some of their higher end bows at the time.
It was offered in various limb and cam configurations though before Hoyt switched to just the XT2000 and ZR200 limbs. If I remember correctly it was available with Intruder limbs, Contender limbs and PFX split limbs. I am trying to remember which came with the single cam. Regardless, the cheapest that the local shop sold any of the versions for was $240 and that was for either the Intruder or the Contender version. I believe the single cam setup was somewhat more expensive. At $199 I would grab it.

RE: Hoyt MT sport
My son started using his MT Sport at 14. It is the 2002 model. He was getting 254 fps but his was the 60-70lb set at 66lbs. He is now selling it to a friend. It has been a great bow with NO problems. He got his first 2 deer with it last year. It is also a very quite bow. He is now 16 wants to shoot more 3d and league so he got the xTec. IMO I would say that is a very good bow for beginners. You will be very happy with it if you get it.
Good luck.
Good luck.

RE: Hoyt MT sport
I just retired my MT Sport for a new AR34. The MT Sport is a great bow for price. I picked mine up last year on clearance as well for $250.00. I have really enjoyed shooting this bow. It has 60lb draw with the ZR200 split limbs. It is fast, relatively quiet, and very comfortable & forgiving. I would recommend it to anyone from a young hunter just starting out to an experienced archer. I may hang on to mine as a back up.... but I have had a couple of offers of $200 for it used with only the limbsavers & Tru Glow sights on it... So, $199 is a great price. I would definately recommend picking it up! Good luck.
