RE: PENDULUM OR PINS?

Nope,I sight my bow in from the ground. It's all about form.If you bend at the waste without dropping your bow arm,you should be dead nuts on.I was taught to shoot this way 24 years ago and I've never had a problem.I won't get into a physics debate because I'm not that smart.I'm just telling you,if the proper form is used, there's no need to compensate for being up in a tree.

Well, for what it's worth if you don't shoot with proper form it won't matter what sight you use you won't be accurate. I just have always understood that shooting at angle changed the way gravity affected an arrow, as a result it's best whatever sight you shoot to try it out from a treestand or elevated platform to see what happens. For what it's worth I've used pedulum sights for years, and have been pleased. But I've always owned one that is "lockable" for ground use etc. However, honestly I've never tried just taking my 3 pin (sighted in on the ground) sight and climbing up a tree (without resighting it) and seeing what happens like DougE is suggesting, I may have to give it a shot and see what happens.

Gordon, gravity has the same effect on the ground as it does 20 ft up in a tree. The reason most people hit high from a tree is because they drop their bow arm. This changes their draw length and sighting plane.Trust me,if you're in a tree, aim strait in front of you and then bend at the waist keeping your upper body in the same position. If you do this, you'll be dead on.Bow speed has no effect on this.If your target is 20 yards from the base of your tree and you bend at the waist, your 20 yard pin will be dead nuts on.

Y'all listen to Doug, he is dead on with that info and absolutly right about aiming straight in front of you and then bend at the waist keeping your upper body in the same position ;).
