One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I finally have the money to get my bow and i think i want Mathews becasue they have a great reputation of quality. If it is a Mathews its going to be either the LX or the Outback. In the thing that Mathews sent me they have the LX MSRP at $719 and the Outback at $729. But last year when my dad bought his Razortec the LX and Razortec were close in price and he payed $660 or so. But i think i will go to the pro shop and hopefully not spend more then i have. I would like any and all feedback about which everybody thinks is best.

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Of the 3 that you mentioned, my personal choice would be the XTec. Shoot them all and see which one you like best. Between the 2 Mathews bows you mentioned, I'sd personally go with the Outback if you just have to have a Mathews. ;)

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
i personally own a mathews LX but i would go with the outback. but if you want a less expensive bow get a bowtech they are awsome bows

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Don't buy anything until you shoot as many as you can get your hands on, then decide. There are alot of great bows out there. The prices seem pretty high but it could be the area you live in. I got my Outback for $589.00 ( the guy gave me a good price because I'm a regular customer) and my Razortec for $599.00. In different areas the prices vary. Around where I am the the Bowtechs are just as or more expensive than any of the rest, but again it could just be where I live. But shoot everthing you can before deciding on one.

Oh wait a minute...This is the choice I made after I got rid of my Mathews[:'(] and decided to get something with a generous valley and a solid wall with straight and level nock travel. ;):D |
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Do like CR says and try many. I was in the same sitution just a few weeks back. I read what everyone said on here and tried many different bows. My choice was the xTec but that is the bow that fit me best. Everyone likes something different in their bows. I personally didn't like the Matthews but I know others that don't like the hoyts. It is YOUR decision so try many and buy the one you like best. Good luck.

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Shoot all the bows that your pro-shop has to shoot and if they don't have a large selection, then go to another pro-shop. I can't stress enough, don't buy based of off magazine adds. Go to the pro-shop/s with an open mind and buy what feels good for you. Several months ago, I went to the pro-shop "knowing" I was either buying an LX or an Outback. The pro-shop insisted that I shoot several bows. After shooting every model of Mathew's, Bowtech, Hoyt, and Kodiak, the pro shop had to offer, I walked out with an Xtec. (I couldn't have been more suprised or happier with the decision...I never really wanted a Hoyt until I shot some).
PS - the price of the bow is just the beginning. You will spend another $400 + on accessories for you bow. |
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Thanks a lot for you help. The shop i am going to has Hoyt and Mathews. I dont know exactly what else. I plan on spending somewhere over 1000.

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I'd second on the Outback..... thats what I ended up with, though you cant really go wrong with any of the bows that are out now. I'm sure you can get a better price than the quoted MSRP. My pro shop sells the Outback bare bow for $629.......

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Best thing to do is shoot them all and make up your own mind which feels best to you. The one that feels best to you as far as grip and draw should be the one you go with, not the one someone else tells you is better than the other.

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I got my Outback and LX both for $599 !!
After owning both.......I'd give the nod to the Outback ! But the LX does have some better qualities ........it has a little smoother draw and is more stable IMO ! Overall.......I think it is a little more accurate ! For a hunting bow though........the OB is plenty accurate and extremely quiet ! It is smaller and a little more versitile and the extra brace height is better on the forearms ! And it's got the new camo.........come on......you know how important that is !! ;):D Not a Hoyt man......so can't help you there !! |
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I have an LX and my friend has an Outback. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
BTW... my local pro-shop has both for $619 & $629 respectively. |
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
ONE FINAL TIME MY A$$!!!!!! Trust me...this topic will be brought up again and again and again and again...etc etc etc!!!!!!!
|
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I considered and shot all the mentioned bows and my pick was the Hoyt XTEC. IMO, it's the one to get!!! :D

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I shot a Magna Tech, then traded it in for a LX, then traded it in for an Outback. I think I was happier with my LX. My sight (and some others I have seen) seem to sit very low on the sight bracket leaving barley enough room for a modest sized fixed blade broad head. Something to do with the riser design, I think. The Outback does shoot sweet. 27" @ 70lb with a 390 gr arrow 277 fps. and very smooth. The extra inch of brace height is not a bad thing either. Just my opinion thow.

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
LMAO when i said one last time i meant for me before i buy my bow.

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Sharpshot 71,Not knowing you,or what kind of shooting your going to be doing,I can only tell you whats worked for me.I shoot an LX-30in. draw @ 63lbs,418gr Axis 400-278fps.The LX gives me a shock free, very smooth drawing, quiet bow, with impressive numbers.Speaking of impressive numbers,I paid $639.00,and that was set-up!By the way,Whats everyone talking about an X-Tec?I did'nt see where you mentioned one in your post...Bob

Treestand,
"One final time, LX or Outback or a HOYT".......... that's what the TOPIC says. :D |
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Ya I'd probably pick the Darton over the crappy Mathews[:'(] :D
|
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I have a Legacy and love it but of the ones you want I would get the Outback.

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
Even if this is your last "opinion" gathering thread on your next bow, you really need to go out and shoot all them if you haven't already. And shoot them a bunch and figure it out for yourself. They all feel different, draw different, sound different and shoot different. Sure they are all great bows, but not the same!!! Quit asking questions like you need a mother and figure it out for yourself, after you've done your homework, on what's BEST FOR YOU. :D ;) :D Get whatever 1)feels best to you, what shoots the best for you, and what you feel most comfortable shooting. Good Luck!!
I bought an Xtec and couldn't be happier with it. |
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
IL Cornfed,I was wondering who was going to be the one to bust my chops on the topic over what was posted,so you get the gold star!,LOL.One other thing,It's trestand, not treestand.I just thought I'd mention this since you seem to be paying such close attention to detail...Bob

RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
This will be a purily hunting bow. Probably some bowfishing but otherwise deer hunting and maybe if i get one more with the gun, turkey hunting. I am not sure what my draw length is but i will probably be shooting at 65 lbs. I just wanted everybodys opinion on which bow they like best.
Stump_MN_Hunter, i have a question. What is your pro shop. The one i am going to is called Schaffers Archery, in Burnsville. I was just wondering if you have heard of it and where you are from. Also where another Pro shop might be south of the Twin Cities. |
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I shot you an email Sharp. My email is [email protected] if you want to BS.
|
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I looked at the bows mentioned ( the two mathews andmultiple hoyts with cam and a half) and i though the hoyts were a heck of a lot better bow! good luck with the new bow
|
RE: One final time LX or Outback. Or a Hoyt.
I've been shooting hoyt foe the past 6 years and I have never had a problem. I think you would be happier with a Hoyt
