whisker biscuit ?'s
well i am sick of my arrow falling off my rest so i am considering getting a whisker biscuit. first of all which out of the many is the best one? do they damage fletching? i believe they would have 2 do some damage but i would like 2 kno how long it takes before it starts to rip the fletching off the arrow if thats what it does. does is reduce the speed of ur bow at all? if so how much. thank you

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
I'm not sure that the fletching damage would be a whole lot but I'll be putting one on my bow this fall for hunting but I'll use my nap quicktune 3000 for my 3D and target shooting. So I wouldn't think that the bristles would be able to damage the fletching's a whole lot when you just use it for hunting and as for loss of speed I hear you can trim the bristles so I think it would be a minimum loss .

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
i was hoping not 2 b losing more than 5-6 fps (if i got it that is)
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
I was watching another thread and I'm sure they were speaking of more like 3fps but I can't see that much if you trim it .Hopefully someone can help you a little better I'll be interested as well .

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Yoy may want to consider Vital bow Gear's "Ultimate Fall-away" rest. It holds the arrow in place till you draw and then falls away with no fletching damage and no reduction in speed. ;)

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
well i am sick of my arrow falling off my rest so i am considering getting a whisker biscuit. Is your arrow falling off the rest strictly when your hunting while drawing on a deer? Is it falling off while your practicing? While I think the WB is a great hunting rest your opening sentence scares me a little! The reason I asked the questions was to try and determine if you have other problems that the WB may help but wont cure. If your having problems with the arrow falling off the rest while practicing then we should try and solve that problem before thinking of another rest. Bad drawing form is a good culprit for popping the arrow off the rest. The biggest contributer to that bad drawing form (from what I've seen) is being over bowed. For example , I watched a guy the other day start out his drawing sequence with the tip of his arrow pointing to the floor and by the time he reached his letoff it was pointing to the ceiling[&:] With the proper poundage setup you should be able to hold your bow arm straight out with your arrow pointing at your intended target and remaining there throughout your draw cycle. You should also be able to do this sitting down. If your arrow is falling off strictly during hunting situations while drawing on a deer because of the almighty adrenaline rush then God bless ya man! Welcome to bowhunting!:D Then I'd recomend the WB. To answer your questions , the best WB is the Deluxe with the quick shot biscuit. They have a new biscuit this year that is even less damaging to fletchings. I myself use feathers and with a properly tuned bow I've been shooting the same fletchings thru my WB for three years now and they still look fine. When I do decide to change them it will be because I'm sick of the colors. As far as speed loss goes , I lose between 3 -5 fps (with feathers) and again , a properly tuned bow contributes to minimal speed loss. I've been a WB advocate for a few years now , but I must say I see more and more people turning to the WB for the wrong reasons. I hope this helps you (or anyone else) in your decision! |
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
follow the link to my review of the WB. I am also in the middle of playing around with the newer bisuits with the softer bristles. So far they are promising, and will reduce or eliminate trimming.

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
when my arrow falls off the rest it is during practice. i just bought this bow about a month ago. i can draw my bow sitting down it is just that unless i go so slow that i am barly pulling my bow back the arrow just falls off the rest. it usually falls at about 6 inches or less before i am at full draw. it is weird b/c all the sudden the arrow goes straight up and then 2 the right falling off the rest. i cant think why it is doing this.

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Are you shooting a loop or off the string ?
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Thank's for the info Bowfanatic that's not an issue with myself I just want to be secure when I'm in my stand and my arrow nocked .This past season I was trying to turn to the opposite side of a tree to take a shot at a little 6point and knocked my arrow off the rest and it landed right beside the buck ,I never had enough time to re nock an arrowas he walked away he never even flinched when the arrow bounced off the treestand and landed right beside him , it didn't appear that he even noticed at all.
5Shot I'm going to check out your site Thank's nubo |
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Good question CBM SC!
Do you use a release or fingers? If release , what type of release? Do you shoot directly off the string or do you use a loop? Are you right or left handed? It sounds like nock pinch , but I cant be sure without watching you draw or getting the answers to the above questions. |
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
i use a release. it is a winn free flight glove. standard, not caliper. i use a string loop. i am also right handed
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Before I get into nock pinch or torque , your not guiding the arrow with your left forefinger while drawing are you?
What kind of rest are you using? Without watching you draw I'm gonna take your word for it and assume you can draw it back with ease. You can try lowering the poundage to see if you still have the problem. What do you have to lose? Your not less of a man if you have to shoot 50#;) Without seeing your actual setup (how your loop is tied , etc.) it's hard for me to determine what the actual problem is. But nine times out of ten that problem is caused by torque or nock pinch. When drawing make sure your drawing hand stays in line with your bow hand. Do me a favor , go to the range as soon as you get a chance and turn your poundage down to 50# and try shooting for awhile. Then report back and let me know if there was a difference. |
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
i am going 2 post the pics of the rest and loop on my site. should b dun in about 15 min. ill post a link. i think the rest is a tm but am not sure. the prongs face down instead of up. and no i do not guide the arrow with anything. i just let is sit on the rest and all of my fingers are about half open on the grip when i shoot. i also have ben making sure to be perfectly inline when drawing and it still comes off.

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
5shot... that is the first time I have seen your review on the WB. I couldn't have said it better. I am all for this rest and believe that people shouldn't knock it before they try it. I'm interested in hearing what you have to say about the softer bristle bisquit.
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Your loop is tied wrong which could be causing your problem. The knots should be opposite each other. With a properly tied loop theres no need for a metal nock set either.
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Sorry I haven't been back by !
From the looks in your pictures .......I would say your getting some nock pinch ! I would take the brass nock out and just shoot with the loop and see if things improve any ! It also looks ....from the side view.....that your rest is a little high ! May want to check your nock point too !! The WB is a good rest and may be worth a try.......but I would work out the other problems first and then try one !! Good Luck !! |
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
actually, i mite just take the string loop off first and get another nock set on the bottom. the string loop is making me have 2 draw farther back than is comfortable. i am having trouble with the trigger spinning b/c of the string loop and it is harder 2 reach compared 2 when i shot off the string

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
pahunter, here is a link to my updated review on the new softer bristles. I just put it up.

RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
thank you 5 shot. very helpful review
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
The only major downside I had to mine, the new drop in model cures. But I am going with a trophy taker now.
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Shootem Up, It looks like you need more space for your arrow nock so you won't have pinch against your loop knots. I would just remove the brass nock and set my arrow nock on top of the bottom loop knot.
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Visual perspective not 100%, but it appears you have way too much loop.
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
i have last years biscuit that i would sell for $30, had maybe 100 arrows shot through it. the used bow i bought has a muzzy zero effect and i'm going to go with it.
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
I just put a wisker biscuit on my pse spyder. I love it. It works great and doesent hurt my fletching.[&:]:);)
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
Got one on my q2. Absolutely great!
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
My concern would not be with the losing on speed, but of good arrow flight. Do you keep knocking the arrow off in the treestand? If you are stalking i could understand wanting one but i can't see the need in a treestand.
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
I can.
ever tried reaching for your bow while keeping your eyes on the deer? no real easy and sometimes you miss your "approach" and tap the bow and oops off goes the arrow or when raising it you tap something and oops, or......, or....... |
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
For hunting you can't beat a WB
|
RE: whisker biscuit ?'s
My last three rests have been a TM hunter, then a GKF shootout, now a WB. The WB shoots my arrows the best of the three, and is quieter. Plus arrow won't fall off the rest. IMO, if it hits where it's supposed to, 5 fps doesn't make a difference. Get a rest that works the best for what you are doing, not the one that is the fastest.
