Best sights???

Ok I went out and got a new Mathews sq2 and I need to get a new sight....so what are your thoughts you guys and gals are the ones with the equipment and I think I am better off asking on here than some guy at a store. thanks

RE: Best sights???

I love the Cobra line, durable and affordable. I'm sure there are more precise and popular, but for hunting I love my Cobra!

Thanks for your reply. I think unless you are on here a lot people don't feel the need to help someone new. So thanks again

I like the copper john dead nuts sight. It is built like a tank and is very affordable (Under $75 at most places.) Oh, and they make a little light called the afterburner for under $20 that is good too! Hope this helps.

pins are very easy to sight in.

Schulz16,I've used an HHA Opitmizer Lite,Copper-John,and the Trophy-Ridge.I was pleased with the HHA and the C-J,but the T-R was'nt for me.Right now I'm looking into the Spott-Hogg Hogg-It,Copper-John Dead Nut Pro III,HTM,and CBE. As with all archery equipment,go to a pro shop you trust and try them out...Bob

I'm currently using a Copper John Deadnuts Pro, I love it. That being said I've had good luck with alot of sights including Cobra ,Tru Glo, ect. I just wanted to get away from plastic.

Those replies are just giving opinions on what I like to call "supplemental" sights-additional hardware subject to FAILURE. The absolute best sight-BAR NONE-is your own two eyes.

Go with maybe a single pin or something on a limb and SHOOT! If YOU can't truly shoot some decent groups then you're just on crutches.

Shoot instinctively-shoot true.

well if you dont shoot instintivly go with copper john.. but there is a town of great sites but this one has been proven

I will add another vote for the Copper john sights.

I have been hunting with a Pollington Red Dot Scope. No peep or kisser is needed. Works great in low light conditions. What I didn't like was the cost. I did see however a lower cost one in Bass Pro or Cabelas. It was under $100 and had crosshairs built in.

uncle matt - you were better off not even replying. that is not what the gentleman asked. that may be your way, but not a majority of folks way.

schultz16,
the best advice you recieved is to go to your shop and try various sights, and see what you like the best. there have been some very reputable ones mentioned, so you have somewhere to start.

good luck!

I have the trophy ridge nitro extreme the vertical pins, it took a little getting used too at first, but now i wouldn't use anything else.

After checking out a bunch of sights, I went with the Tru-Glo Glo-Brite single pin. Very bright sight, has a level... Much better than the low end Tru-Glos. I picked it over the Cosmic line and Vital Bow Gear, both of which make some good stuff. Never did check out the Trophy Ridge line, cuz I heard some negative stuff about them but understand they have gotten better.

RE: Best sights???

The Trophy Ridge line has some outstanding sights. One of THE best selling sights for '04 is sure to be the new TR MANTIS, this awesome moveable sight doubles as a top quality Pendulum. Check out the slick new TR V-Drive system offered on the '04 line.

What I look for in equipment, assuming the articles basic purpose has been met, is ruggedness. I use a Spot-Hogg Right on on one bow and an HHA Optimizer 5000 on another. Both are excellent sights, in my opinion. These aren't the least expensive sights to be sure but they rugged and dependable.

IL-Cornfed have u noticed that these sights are 134$ i think that is outrageous!!!!!!!!!! plus they look to complecated

Take a look at the Vital Bow Gear's Trapper sight. It's the brightest sight I've found. Has a little bigger fiber so the pins are easy to see.

Works for me.

i have cosmic sight now and went out and bought a copper john and was very disappointed. i guess the simplicty of the cosmic as well as the very bright pin spoiled me . i will be bringing the dead nuts back tuesday. i switched bac and was so comfortable to shoot. the only thing i may try the trio by impact. it is really brigt but limited to three pins. the cosmic works well out to 80 if needed.

Here's a couple of pics of the Copper John and the afterburner. I only shoot one pin so that's all you will see in the pics.

IL-Cornfed is that the New Mantis or Matrix. I'm confused with the part that looks like a microadjusting wheel for the vertical adjustment and the bracket with the yellow lever[:-] Is that for a quiver

ampahunter 03-04-2004 01:26 PM

RE: Best sights???

My mistake, I should have said "horizontal" adjustment instead of vertical---as you can see I'm REALLY confused...help!!!

RE: Best sights???

I like the cosmic too.
The one by Vital Bow gear called the Trapper is vertical pin and all metal.
I have both and really like them.
Bright.
