low light sights

I got a shot at a buck on day two of our hunting season. The problem was it was in the deep woods and it was real dark. I could not see my sight post. What are some people using so they can see their post in very low light conditions. If the buck had been 5 minutes sooner he would have been supper. I have seen a pendulum type sight with an led and a radioactive sight that glows yellow. Any advice would be great.

It even glows under moon light.

Ditto! Just ordered a Cosmic off of e-bay. STUPID BRIGHT!!!

Anything made by Impact Archery is " stupid bright" . I had the Cosmic and took it off to get the Jumbo+. Same brightness but allows easier mount of your quiver and better access to your sight adjustments. The Solo+ has the same size pin guard as the Cosmic.

The optional bluelight is overkill. I have not used mine yet, even shooting in the near total darkness of " techno" shooting.

All of their products are fantastic.

I have the omega XL and the smaller one. Both are adjustable w/a thumb lever. Very bright.

I' ve tried a lot of sights,so I would strongly reccomend the HHA 5000 Optimizer for a very bright, single pin adjustable sight. You can get a light for it,but you won' t need it...Bob

For low light, nothing beats the Copper John Dead Nuts Pro w/ additional light. I think the light comes from PSE, it is a small blue LED pin light that attaches to the top of the sight. It will not shine bright enough to spook your animal. This sight w/ light will give you those last few precious minutes of shooting time. I have not seen anything that comes close....

Most of the Impact sights have a significant amount of fiber optic cable used in the sight...2 or 3 feet if I remember correctly.

If you are into lights for sights then there are a variety out there that can be used as an " add-on" to any sight as well as ones that are specifically made for certain sight models.

...and as you mentioned there are also some radioactive pins available for a variety of sights. However, my experience with them leads me to believe that they are a bit too dull to work in the manner that they were intended. Ofcourse, I have only really played around with one of them so I cannot speak for all of this particular style.

Trophy Ridge is a bright sight. The fiber is wrapped all the way around the sight so it gathers alot more light, plus I ordered a blue light from Cabelas that bolts right on, and works GREAT!!! I can' t wait to test it out tonight...

Impact cosmic sight!!! I was in my stand still at the last bit of light and my brother in law was already in his truck waiting for me to get out of the woods. Held it on a doe last night and all I could say was NICE!!!! I have the Jumbo.

How quiet are the cosmic sights? Do you add anything for vibration?
Thanks

I checked out their website and noticed they offer a 6 inch extension for their sights.

Has anyone tried the the extension to increase accuracy?

Also:

On the Cosmic Trio...is it easy to adjust the pins for 20,30 and 40 yards?

I' m sort of used to having three pins and I' m not so sure I' d be comfortable having only one.

I have the Impact Archery " Jumbo +" mounted on the 6" extension and use it for hunting. I really like having the sight a little more " out in front" of me.

VC mi amigo, we cant have you uncomfortable now can we? The Impacts are excellent sites. I have setup several and everyone I know with one loves them. I know one guy with the extension bar and he says it is awesome.

I shoot a HHA single pin myself, and it is a very durable, extremely bright site.

Thanks, reylamb. Nice to hear from you again. I was wondering how you were doing.

I appreciate the info. I will have one for next season. I' m going to try the extension on it also.

I finally broke down and went to the eye doctor. I have minor trouble with my vision on both ends, near and far. Therefore, I wear contacts to correct only my distance vision while hunting (the other choice was to wear one contact lens for close and one for distance, which causes a loss of depth perception...that would mean somewhat of a loss of the ability to judge yardage while hunting).

Anyway, when wearing the contact lenses for distance, the pins are just a tad too close, so the extension would cause greater clarity and hopefully even tighter groups. My groups really tightened up just from the lenses and I' m pretty stoked about the idea of an extension for the pins.

Thanks again.

I checked out Vital Bow Gear, Impact, and liked both. I chose the Tru-Glo single pin Glo-Brite sight though. This thing is exceptionally bright. I can still see the pin when its too dark to shoot (because you can' t see what you' re shooting at). I' ve had people ask if the sight was battery operated b/c it is so bright.

I use the Trophy Ridge Matrix sight and I swear by it,this sight is highly visible even in the middle of the night not to mention that it uses glow sticks for that purpose.
