welcome to the board
Take a look at Hoyt Thunderhawk
A lot of bang for the buck

i am partial to hoyts but if you are looking at a bow economically, i would say that the hawk series bows are a good deal. i was at a couple shops this weekend and saw the superhawk priced at $450 and the turbohawk priced at $550. the turbohawk is pretty nice and claims to get good speed. to not be partial though, it looks like diamond has some really great bows for the money. the best thing to do is find a good pro shop and try them for yourself and choose which bow is right for YOU. good luck.

Martin Cheetah

I just bought a Martin Cheetah package from BPS for $516.00. I scrapped the sight provided because it was junk but kept the rest of the package. It's super smooth, fast, quiet, and the smaller axle to axle is great for tree stand shooting. The only thing I don't like about the bow is the rubber grip but you can upgrade to the wood grip for for 30-40 bucks and install it yourself. I think for the price it's a great deal.

PSE makes some nice bows but IMO there are better.I'd look at Hoyt,Bowtech,Diamond and Mathews as well.

Truthfully, you have to go shoot all the bows you can. You will know the one that is right for you. What I shoot may not be what is comfortable for you. This is the best part of buying a bow, you get to shoot them all.

What camelcluch said. It is hard to go wrong with any of the modern bows, IMO, when you get to the $400 plus range, but you need to see what you are comfortable with.

I shot the Diamond Stud when I was looking, and it is a good bow, but I spent some more money to go with the Iceman.

Good luck!

if you can, stand close to thier target wall and shoot with your eyes closed, doesnt matter where the bo hits, just see how it feels.find the one that feels best, and put a shop set up on it, and shoot it more. see how you group with it:cool2:

You can also go with Mission my Mathews they have some awesome bows with good speed and there dont cost you an arm and a leg. I have the Mission UX2 and it is a great bow.

It depends on the 'archer'

It often depends on the type of hunter making the purchase. Is it a 3D competitor and a bow only hunter? Is a lot of money, relatively, available for one of the top bows available. Are you "athletic" enough to shoot, a less expensive bow, accurately for hunting purposes.

I could have bought more expensive bows, but I still consider myself a "a part-time archer." I would shoot often but I never scheduled X number of practice weeks for archery. There would be weeks in the year, I would watch the compound bow sit idle.

I bought the bow I would get value for and recover the cost in a good time. A bow that would shoot accurately, and meet my needs.

And I have no problem with others buying more advanced and more expensive technology. I'll be happy to just wait three and five years to enjoy it.

shoot many of them and choose the one that fits you best dont get caught up in all the speed hype.speed is no good if you cant hit what you are aiming for anyway jmo.

newcomer24 09-06-2009 08:29 PM

alright thanks i shot the pse bow madness and the diamond stud i like them both but what do you think about dual cam bows? What brands should i consider with dual cam

Bernie P. 09-07-2009 06:00 AM

Same brands as already mentioned.Mathews started the single cam trend but these days dual cams are coming back in a big way.

newcomer24 09-13-2009 11:44 AM

what about Bowtech have a couple of buddies that own them one has the tomkat and loves it and the other has a guardian...obviously they dont make either so whats there new dual cams and whats everyone think?

Phil from Maine 09-13-2009 03:12 PM

I like my Bowtech and unfortunately they do not make it anymore either.. It's a Constitution I bought off a fellow member here in the classifieds.. You can get some great deals down there if you know what you are doing.. I bought mine from Greg/ MO and was very happy with the purchase.. Good luck on what YOU decide, I agree with what others have stated thoufgh. Try a few out for yourself at an archery shop and you wouldn't go wrong..
