SPOT HOGG USERS
Anyone have problems adjusting these sites?
I was going to pick one up today, the new hunter hogg-it with the wrap and the guy working at the shop totally put the site down because of adjustment problems. He says it's the hardest sight to adjust from pins to 3rd axis..... Just curious that's all....that site seems to be the cat's ass. Any feed back on adjustability would be great. |
RE: SPOT HOGG USERS
I have a Spot-Hogg Hogg It and adjustability is one of the reasons I love this site! Did this particular shop carry Spot-Hogg? Sounds like he may not have had one in stock and wanted to sell you something off the shelf or he has no experience with them.

RE: SPOT HOGG USERS
It was at Bass Pro Shops! By the time the guy was done telling me how difficult it is to tune those sites they lost a 260 dollar sale.

It was at Bass Pro Shops! Maybe they should stick to what they know best, selling fishing gear:D |
RE: SPOT HOGG USERS
Simple to adjust IMO. The adjustability is a big reason I own the sight as well. I had one of their older models and wasn't happy with some features. I tried a bunch of different sights and always went back to the Hogg because of the adjustability. Still shooting one.
I really don't think this guy knew what he was talking about. Some of the guys working the floor at the Big Box Stores know their stuff but they would be the exception not the rule. Take what they tell you with a grain of salt. Go in and ask them some archery related questions you know the answers too, you'll find out pretty quickly what they do and don't know. |

RE: SPOT HOGG USERS
One of the most precise and easy to adjust sights on the market. If probably thinks putting gas in his car is tough too..:D
Get one, you'll be happy you did. |
RE: SPOT HOGG USERS
I own a spot hogg hunter hogg it wrapped. The sight is top notch, tough as nails, and the adjust ability capabilities are the best i have seen in a bow sight bar none. The bass pro guy probably had no idea what he was doing, id be willing to bet he is used to plain jane loosen the allen screw and move sights.

RE: SPOT HOGG USERS
Just bought a hunter wrapped and it is by far the best sight i have ever used. It has more adjustability than any sight i have ever owned. I can't beleive it took me this long to purchase one. The price is what deters most people i think.

RE: SPOT HOGG USERS
The Hogg It is the sight most others are measured by. It's a quality sight No doubt, although I am liking my tool less Viper Predator Microtune moreevery time I shoot with it. The HHA Rear sliders still rock in my book if you're not looking for a multi-pin sight;)

RE: SPOT HOGG USERS
I own five Spot Hogg Hunter Hogg Its... and just sold a Hogg It target version because I've decided not to pursue 3d as seriously as I was thinking about.
So... six Spot Hoggs on my bows... Does that tell you anything? ;)When Dan says it is THE standard by which all others are judged, he's spot-on! :D |

i will be buying my first hogg it in the next couple of day. i just cant make up my mind on the 2" ring or the 2" 3/8 ring. what do u guys do like?

For a hunting rig I prefer the larger ring. It gives me a better sight picture (more available view of the animal).
For a target rig, where light isn't an issue and you will be using a smaller peep, you can go with the smaller 2" ring. |

F Bass Pro! The sight can be a little needy for steady hands but you should be able to lock it down in one session. By far the sight I've had and not looking to change anytime soon.
Oh, and I would start looking else where for archery gear. Lancaster, South Shore and Keystone Country Store just to name a few. |

I feel diferently than most of these guys. I've had a mulitude of sights over the last 3 1/2 decades, both hunting and target sights. I have owned a Real Deal and a Hogg-It for the better part of five years and they are well built sights to sy the least, but personally I think adjustment of the pins is rather crude.
Loosen one set screw and tighten the other to change the tilt on the pin. It's all guess-by-golly. Gang adjustments is OK and they do stay put once tightened down, but adjusting each pin individually is a PITA as far as I'm concerned. Probably the most precise pin sight I ever used or tried is the SureLoc Lethal Weapon. I tried the LW-1 on the only problem I had with that is that because it is closer to the bow I couldn't get the pins close enough. Bow as too fast. The LW-2, being mounted on an extention bar was more favorable. Downside to these might be ruggedness for hunting. For 3D it is a superb sight. There are lots of others as well, but for hunting setups I don't need precision adjustments. I just use an HHA slider set for 25 yards and leave it alone for hunting in the woods. I have the OL-5000 and this is by far one of the most rugged sights you'll ever find. |
