Trophy Ridge Undertakers
#11
If any of you have been in archery long enough to remember the Punchcutter broadheads, that was a design that failed miserably. The Piston Point/Undertaker seems to be of the same design so I am really skeptical of them and will continue to be so until I am proven wrong. I saw a video recently on Youtube where they were shot into a steel drum and they failed miserably. They also had a video of a hog shot with them and it ony got about 4 inches of penetration.

I've seen video of just about every BH on the market failing to pass thru at some shot or another.Even with the best broadheads. I've seen BH's only go in a few inches.
As you well know a lot goes into if an arrow will go through an animal. What was the poundage of the bow. weight of the arrow, distance, shot placement, did the BH hit a rib, etc? Too many if's on 1 shot on 1 animal compared to the videos and tests I've seen of them passing with flying colors.
I've seen enoughto them doing well to make them the first mechanical I've ever used. if they do fail they will get tossed.

I would be skeptical of all broadhead tests, including mine. I know I use the same equipment and try to make the conditions identical for each and every head tested, but that doesn't mean that the next guy does. Sometimes "testers" have a hidden agenda and will "tweak" the tests to get the results they want. I don't know what tests you have seen so I don't know how valid or fair they were. I only offer this statement to help keep things in perspective.

I've seen 2 tests that state that the Piston Point is aexcellent broadhead as well as the video that used to be on the Piston Point site showing them shooting various animals. That's about the best anyone can ask for outside of shooting myself. I've done a search for all tests performed and found only the 2.
I've shot the PP and a slick trick out of my bow and the PP performed as well or even slightly better on penetration on targets. my buddy gave me the idea of shooting at a rack of ribs to see how well they do. I'd like to put a media that resembles skin and hair in front of the ribs. I may actually do this sometime this week.

Last season I took 3 deer, 1 bear, and 4 hogs with the PP's. I had complete passthrus on everythingexcept 2 hogs. The deer all fell within sight but the bear and the hogs were longer recoverys. All entrance holes showed the blades were fully open and all the heads still had all the blades. I did have to sharpen the blades out of the package. Just my expirience, but I am sure I will be using them this season.
