Default Need help in choosing a new bow.

I shoot an old Darton..It's great but I wouldn't trust it much over 20 yds..My present one shoots good .It was given to me.It shoots about 190 Feet per second...so over 20 yds..[]not very good. I shoot carbon arrows and it has a 100.00 site...shoots great for an oldy..coffee cup groups.

OK I need advice in which way to go.
I want a bow that ..........

A. Is simple to use..I don't want a fall away rest..or lots of gadgets.

B. One that I can shoot my 31 " Terminator carbons in..

C. One that can shoot tight groups at40 yds with speed.
290 plus feet per second would be nice.

D. I'd prefer a longer compoundaround 40 inches axle to axle...more forgiving..

Which one would you recommend.
Thanks alot,
Chuck7

Chuck there is so much out therenow to choose from its hard to say. I wouls start by spending some time going from shop to shop shooting some of the longer ATA bows out there and just see what feels good to you.

X2. Certain bows will shoot for you that won't work for me, and vice versa. The Vectrix XL and the Katera XL are two of the nicest longer bows I have shot recently - 36" ATA. Getting 290 fps out of a 31" CE Terminator is going to tough, though. I have some of these arrows. They weigh about 510 grains with a 100 grain broadhead. Maybe a PSE X-force could do it . . . .

x3, the last thing you want to do is build a bow around an arrow. Buy a bow thats comfortable for you, then set it up right the first time. Spend just as much time on the accessories as the bow and you'll be happy.

I appreciate the advice...I'm commenting to them all.I was trying to buy a bow to fit my 120 dollars worth of carbons..BUT you are correct..That probalby won't work..Money is not an issue .I have an excellent archery shop about 23 miles away..I'll check them out..

i didn't think the longer arrow would make a differnce in speed..why is that..?? the weight of the arrow?..those 6075 Terminators are pretty skinny..

I probably don't have as much expereince as most of you guys.I've never shot an animal but have had the shaky knees once..while over a hog..I've shot many arrows though but have noticed with my present bow it drops way to much over 25 yds and I was wanting something with a little more distance. While in my stand once I used my range finder..20 yds aint nothin..I need to be ableto shoot farther..

This Katera XL has over 300 feet per second..It also adjust up to 31 1/2 inches.
Question..Will this bow shoot shorter arows faster than the longer ones.? ..and how difficult is it to adjust the draw lenghth?
Do I have to change the cam or canthe bow adjustment be made with all bow parts in tact??
Thanks,
C7

Like other said, it's best to go shoot and then decide.

Just a suggestion,

Chuck...I am slightly biased but If it's a longer forgiving bow you want...make absolutely sure you shoot a Bowtech Commander. Its 37 1/2 ATA and has no hand shock. I was shooting my Gold Tips Ultra lights at 314 fps at 63 lbs or something like that...and the guy that I sold it to is shooting his hunting arrows at 70 lbs at like 310 fps. I currently shoot a Bowtech 101st and its smoking and like 36 inches ATA. There are alot of good bows out there shoot as many as you can. Anything that you shoot will feel like a race car compared to your old bow so shoot more than a few....just make sure you shoot the Commander.
