Rage 2 blade for Bears?
I am going on a bear hunt in Maine this September. The guide said that he doesnt like hunter useing any mechanical broadheads. I asked him about Rage 2 blades and he didn't really give me an answer. Just curiouse if anyone has used these and how they worked.

A lot of Bear outfitters will not allow mechanicals. A bears fur is very thick, long, and they usually have a good fat layer. I am sure these outfitters have no stock in broadhead companies and discourage the use of mechanicals for a reason.

Nope. There's not a single person here that's ever used them....[8D] I'm j/k of course.....PLENTY of people here use them, and they are a fantastic head. BUT, you must respect your outfitters wishes. If he says no mechanicals....well, that's the end of that.
Then I would look at Slick Trick and Magnus Stinger.

I Black bear is generally easier to passthrough than a mature whitetail. The Rage 2-bladewould be an excellent head to use.
Most outfitters, when they say no mechanicals, are used to the old style over the top expandables because that it what they have been use to for many years. The Rage has proven itself the last couple years on the performance it puts out and devestation it inflicts that it is not just another expandable. That is why I believe mechanicals should be put into 2 catagories: Over the top and rear-opening

Rages are a fine head, but really there is no real reason to go against the outfitter on this. There are plenty of head that fly every bit as well as a rage and are easy to tune and will preform. Lots of people on this sight love slick tricks, I prefer G5 strikers, they both make big holes and leave great blood trails.
