Enigma Camo

I just recieved an order from Chuck at Enigma camo and let me tell you, I couldn't be happier. Let me start by saying that Chuck is one of the nicest guys you will ever speak with. We had several phone conversations while he was working on my camo and every time after we got off the phone I was amazed at how personable he was, as well as being concerned with the "little" details that matter most.

My camo arrived Tues. and I couldn't get the box open fast enough. As expected to Wolfskin material is unbelievable. It is whisper quiet, the colors are very sharp and vibrant, and it appears to be tough as nails. I immediately headed for a stand that we have been seeing a good buck out of. The buck never showed that afternoon, but a bachlor group of 18 mature toms and jakes did. The birds got within 11 yds. of me in a 12 ft. ladder stand in fairly open draw, and while I got "the eye" several times, they never could pick me off. I didn't try to shoot one for fear the buck was somewhere close by, but I do believe I could have pulled it off. I hunted in it again yesterday morning in a light rain and it kept my dry. While it is not waterproof, the repellency is adequate for light showers or heavy dew.

Anyone shopping for great camo, made from a fantastic material, should contact Chuck. He will work hard to insure you get all the features you desire and that it fits exactly how you want.

Yeah it's good stuff.

I recieved 2 complete sets last Friday for my Axis hunt this week end.

I will be able to do better than pics as one of the suits is for the cameraman from "Hunting on a Budget". The hunt is going to be on tv next year and we are going to call it the Enigma hunt;)

But I will have the cameraman put some clips up when he gets the editing done:)

What was the wait time between ordering and receiving the camo? Did you just get a regular jacket/shirt and pant or did you have extra work added?

I'd like to get some Engima G2 for next season once this season ends and was curious how they are doing with their production.

Great stuff although I have had a few issues with mine but Chuck is going tosend me a complete new set. He has great concern about customer service and satisfaction.

RE: Enigma Camo

Glad you like it, I certainly love mine. This is my second season using it, and I'm YET to be picked off in stand. Wait one, let me correct that.....the buck I just shot looked up at me from 18 yards, and I was fairly in the open, not the best stand location I could have picked.....

He looked at me for a minute, but never spooked.....Shoot, he never even got nervous.

I don't know what it is about this stuff, but there is SOMETHING to it. Squirrels don't react the same to it.....I have literally, in very noisy leaves, walked to within 5 feet of squirrels on the ground, and they just look at ya....I have had 4 red tailed hawks and 1 perigrine falcon land in trees right next to me, in fact, I had to duck the falcon....I thought he was going to land ON me....I just don't know what it is.....but it's got the eyes of wildlife baffled...

If he posts the pictures, just keep in mind that how and what you see is completly different thanhow and what game animals....especially deer see.
Here is a picture of me, in my environment, with my Enigma...and the Buck it helped me take. This dude stopped about 18 yards away, gave me a casual glance and then moved on like nothing was there.

I have two sets of Enigmaand could not be happier. The stuff is durable, quiet, loaded with great features and can be custom ordered to fit if you're not a "regular" size guy. I'm pretty tall and Chuck has cut both of my sets to my specific desires.
You simply won't get this kind of customer service from any other manufacturer.
Chuck is a retired COP now making a living doing what he loves to do and is a great guy to boot. Even if you don't buy the Camo, give him a call just to shoot the breeze.
You can't go wrong with Enigma.

This is me in my front yard with the buck I killed this year. I love my Enigma and hope to order a set of G2 soon.

RE: Enigma Camo

Sorry for being so late getting back to this post. I will take some pics in my hunting environment, but as NavyDeerHunter stated it will look different to the game you are hunting than it will to the human eye.

As far as the question about time/garments ordered goes. I placed my order in early Sept. and told Chuck I would like it by the start of Nov. I ordered a pair of pants "loaded" and a field shirt "loaded" as well. Loaded means double thickness in high wear areas, knees, elbows, etc. I also got the hand warmer pockets, and too many other features to mention. I also ordered a hat, face mask, and dew rag. If you plan far enough ahead and don't approach the order as "I need it yesterday." than I think you will be more than happy with Chuck. As an owner of a small business I understnd people who wait until the last minute and then gripe that it is taking to long. The other thing that needs to be taken into consideration is that these are custom garments made one at a time for each customer.

Yea sure.......you probably got a stand hanging in that tree behind you [8D]

Awesome buck......just a bad lookin' dude..

Chuck makes some good stuff. He built me a bowhunter's vest this season. I promised him I'd get pics up for guys to look at, but my camera took a dump on me. I'll try and get some up here soon. It's really a cool piece of clothing! I love it...

RE: Enigma Camo

This camo looks great. I have looked and read there info on web site. But I do wonder how the Enigma compares to asat camo. I have been looking at into asat and planned on going thru day one camo after the first of the year. The one draw back with the Enigma that I see right now is there are no mention of have jackets or pants for colder weather. Also what about sent control. I know you guy might not have the answer. But with hunting season going on, I am not going to change camo right now. But I do want to make some changes for the 2008 season.

mobow 11-18-2007 07:19 AM

RE: Enigma Camo

I've used ASAT in the past....the 3D suit. Great camo, no question.

Enigma is a brand new company, only 2 years old so no, there is nothing as yet in the way of cold weather or scent control. BUT, I would talk to Chuck.....I would not be one bit surprised if he would build you something insulated.

Rickmur 11-18-2007 07:29 AM

RE: Enigma Camo

Enigma is a made big so you can wear it over heavier clothing.

Kanga 11-18-2007 05:07 PM

RE: Enigma Camo

I know 1 Axis buck,1 whitetailbuck and a huge boar actually hate the stuff.

Took all 3 of them within an hour this morning:);):D

Yes it is made on the large side so you can layer under it.

But it also has velcro on the pant and jacket waist so you can adjust it when not layered.;)

NavyDeerHunter 11-19-2007 05:26 AM

RE: Enigma Camo

I also own ASAT, but have not worn it since getting my Enigma. Chuck does not have any "cold weather" gear in his current inventory, but is working on developing insulated garmets. I know he does not have "scent control" stuff and have no idea if he plans on developing that or not. My guess would be "not".
If you're not looking to make any changes until next season, now is the perfect time to start talking to Chuck about what you may want.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the info. I Figured I could get a bigger sizes to fit over what I have ,If needed. I will contact chuck after the first of the year and see what he says and can do. I may see get a few things from day one. As he does make stuff colder weather. I can alway slip the enigma over that. You can never have enough extra camo for back up.

Hey guy's, I don't reply much mostly just read and have enjoyed the honest reviews. I wanted to reply to this one for sure. I have been wearing Enigma camo second season now and this stuff is great, the Wolfskin material is great also. I'm a southern redneck and Chuck is a yankee and we have bonded. ha. No joke he is a great guy and customer service is second to none, just give him a call and he will try to please anyway he can. Like other guy's have said, if you want it next week, and want it cheap, go on to Walmart, BassPro, or Cabela's. If you want something that will last for several season's and will fool the game we hunt. Give Chuck a call you want be disappointed. He is making me a Insulated bowhunter jacket now and can't wait till I get it. He is trying to find and make a leafy 3-D suit and that would really be great for early bow season and southern climates. Keep up the gear reviews and look at Enigma for next season.

All great reviews guys and no doubt, Chuck is one in a million. Wolfskin is fantastic material and like rdy2hunt mentioned, virtually waterproof which is due to the tight knit fabric. Being so tightly knitted it also helps to reduce wind penetrating the fabric cooling you down. It's not made for extreme cold weather but layered correctly under it, it sure helps. When Chuck comes out with insulated bibs and jacket you can bet I'll own a set.

Also, once the 3D suit is out, you can wear anything you already owned that's insulated and then wear the 3D for the outer most layer for total concealment. Chuck developed a fanstastic open pattern as proof to all the success photos already on his web page. This is only the second season this camo has been out and it's overwhelmingly helping archers and hunters to success. Everything from turkeys to elk, whitetails, predators and exotics have fallen to a hidden hunter wearing Enigma.

I had one of the first Gen 1 suits and put it through the test by trying to purposely get busted by deer visually. I'd move, they'd look and if I stopped, they lost interest. Time and time again and countless whitetails I'd wave to and they just didn't care. The digitized open pattern fouled their eyes. Gen 2 is proving itself even more superior.

You can count on one thing, when the 3D Leafy suit is available, It'll be the last camo I'll probably ever need. I already have my order placed. :D

I like it better than all 3. There are some threads on here showing what it looks like in different settings and black and white etc. a search will bring them up surely. check it out...www.enigmacamo.com

I just looked at the site for the first time in over a month, and noticed that chuck has the archery/turkey vest up!! HAH!! I own the first version of that toy,( at least that's what he told me!! :D) and I'll be the first to say, that isone cool piece of bowhunting clothing. Pockets all over the place!! Chuck built that thing EXACTLY the way I wanted it, and I was impressed to hel and back when it arrived. I think we had a 1/2 hour conversation on what kind of lining to put in that thing. Try one out guys, you won't be disappointed.
