Another vote for the Darton Ranger here. Great bow with great adjustability, decent speed, quiet, all at a great price.

I have just purchased a Diamond "Edge" for my stepson (Christmas Present). I feel it's a great bow for a nice price.

The Edge is a Great starter bow without dropping a lot of $$ If he is big enough and you want to spend the extra $$ to put him in a top of the line short draw bow. The Equalizer is Tops:D

I purchased a Bowtech Tomkat for my 13 yr. old son this year and we are both very happy with it.

The TomKat is an excellent choice as long as he is at least a 27" Draw. It is also very reasonably priced:D

I have heard A LOT of bad things about the micro midas like the limbs exploding while shooting.
