rocket steelheads or wolverines will work just as good as any fixed head this side of two blade cut on contact. with low poundage bow though i would try fixed heads because the bow is so slow and shots should be kept under 25yrds IMO that tuning them doesnt take nearly as much as it does for high speed. but if your short on time put a good small mech like the ones i said on and itll do the job ive seen it personally more then a few times with a few people i know shooting 45lbs -50lbs. and i shot them back when i was younger and my high county deer hunter (given to me after my dad got a new one way back when) was only shooting from 48-55lbs for a few years. stay away from big cuts thats what takes up the energy and not the blade deployment.

I simply cannot fathom the need for a mechanical when you're shooting a 43lb bow. I did, a few years back,kill a 6pointer 20yds broadside with an NAP Scorpion broadhead. A whoppin' 6 inches of penetration, 45lb bow. I'm sure we could play a bunch of "what if" scenarios were it, say, a Rage or a Rocket Steelhead I used instead. However,that was more than enough fair warning for me.

Ok kids,
After much research and deliberation I've have decided to go ahead and set her up with Magnus Stinger 4-blade. I feel the benefits of those 2 extra little bleeder blades much outweigh any slight difference in penatration that may occur.

like i said with the low poundage tuning should be easy but if you had to rush it the rocket steelhead or wolverine would be fine. the rage has too much cut for that poundage.

I'm using stingers this year. They do require a little thought to go into fletching selection and bowtune, however. I've got best flight with 4" helical feathers and a dropaway rest. They also flew fine with 4" offset vanes but the groups started to open up with blazers. I'm not shooting blistering speeds either, about 235fps.

Sorry it took so long to chime in. Had some computer troubles. Stingers will be an excellent choice for her. That said in a mechanical head, the 100 grn Rocket steelheads will penetrate about as well as anything on the market and would probably work fine.

A have a buddy who refuses to retire his old bow. In 1988 it was state-of-art. Today is just art. He thought he could upgrade the bow by going to a mechanical. He is shooting 27" draw at 56lb. Long story short, last year he stuck a very nice deer, and the arrow did not penetrate for a kill shot, but wounded a deer we could not find.

I agree with majority of post: Go to a cut on contact style broadhead.

I love my spitfires but I also am a 30" draw/70# for low ke I would stay away from any MH I like the nap razor caps, or hellrazors for a cut on contact head. I also have shot the Steelforce out of my 53# recurve and got a passthrough on a 350# bear! Also I don't know for sure and I'm not slamming the rear opening heads but I was taling to alocal warden and he said certain heads that open rearward (he mentioned the snypers) might be considered a "barbed" broadhead, and those are illegal here in IL. I doubt you'd ever run into that but something to think about?
