Has anyone ever taken a shot at a deer. At 40+ yards with a bow. If so did you have any secsuss.

nope...and probably never will...atleast hunting in the woods of PA. i practice out to 40. hopefully 50 and 60 this year...but in the woods everything would have to be absolutely perfect for me to take a shot over my first pin(20yd pin..good till about 25ish) no wind, brush, known yardage etc would be the only way id do it. if your off a couple yards at 40+ your talking a matter of inches of drop...im good at guessing...but if i come up 5 yards hot and shoot 45 and its 40 im going to be 4 or so inches too high...thats no good...and even then...thats alot more time of arrow flight for the deer to move...

i do practice out at 40+ but i highly doubt i'll ever take game that far. thats the fun of bowhuntin...gettin them in close...but i guess out west thats common practice...im confident i can kill a foam deer in my nicely mowed yard at 40...but not a live one

I killed one at 51 yards two years ago. I was using a wasp boss bullet. Arrow entered inbetween the last two ribs and exited through the offside shoulder, arrow stuck in the ground like it didnt touch anything except it was covered in blood so I knew it did go through something. I think the deer went maybe 50 yards or so and tipped over.

I would this year lots of practice up to 70 yards, shooting the G5 montec

42 yards with the G-5 very clear no obstructions.

I have taken a couple at 50ish mark. Used Rocket Miniblasters on two of them and a Punchcutter on one. Both are mechanical heads. The Punchcutter is no longer in production. It was one of the first mechanicals back around the early 90's.

I took a shot at a doe that was walking at 15 yds. but hit her back too far. She went about 50 yds and bedded down. After a bit she stood up and started to walk away. She stood in the open at 50yds. I put the next arrow where the first one should have went.

I don't recommend shooting that far unless you practice those kind of yardages and farther. Also only take that shot when conditions are perfect.

Normally like to keep my shots at 40 or less. But I had a perfect opportunity for a 50 yarder a couple of years back. I was shooting a Muzzy 3 blade, 100gr - with my bow shooting around 240 FPS.

The broadhead actually went through the front shoulder bone and directly through the heart and stuck out through the rib cage on the other side…

I actually saved some pics of the broadhead. It got dung up going through all that bone, but it still did the job!

Practice, practice, practice and you will feel comfortable at longer yardages. I practice at 50 and 60 yards every other day and am ready to try the long shot.
