Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I just bought one this past Saturday and like it so far. I had read at least a person or two complain that pulling broadheads out was really tough, but I have not yet found it too be overly tough.
Question, how many shots/how long do others think this target will last me? |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I have one and it has lasted since last year, probably a few hundred shots at least. Personaly Im not impressed with it. Seems like they just stuff it with leftovers, plastic, cardboard ext. Think I would go with something more along the lines of the block, or the solid cube targets.

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I'm not sure they will last longer than a Block - they just cost less. And for the amount I shoot broadheads, the concept of having an "eternity" type bag target for field points and a specialized broadhead target for pre hunting season tuning makes sense. My Block 4X4 is has had hundreds of broadheads through it and thousands of field points. It has a couple of fist size holes where I shoot the broadheads into it - and it is getting to the point where occasionally an arrow will poke out the other side. So far I haven't had one actually pass through. When it is gone, I will probably get a Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target and just save it for broadhead practice. The Morrell field point bag target is still goingafter more than ten years of use.
After the target gets a few thousand field points through it, the arrow will pull out with moderate force. |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
Red if you happen to shoot muzzys USE your practice head you will really save the life of the yellow jacket with these heads! To answer your question me and a buddy split on one last year and shot it all year with field tips(4000-5000)arrows, and shot prob close to (800-1000) times with broadheads and we are using this target right now and will prob last til end of next year! I am really impressed with the taget!!
PS..... do not put your shoulder through the hell of pulling out field tips out of this target! We actualy soaped our arrows down with field tips on last year to shoot into the yellow jacket! |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I've had one of these targets for a couple years and love it. It is much easier pulling arrows out of this then a block in my opinion. I shoot about 50 arrows a day from spring through archery season and mine is still in good shape. should last you a while.

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I got the target only for broadheads, as I have a bag target and a black hole for field points.

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I have a Yellow Jacket..I'll never buy another, mine hasn't taken very many shots..go to youtube and search broadhead target:(hope link works)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfOSIRk2LiY Amercan Whitetail Targets (also sold under several other sub names, like Cabela's MDL Broadhead Target ) these look like a better target for the same price as the Yellow Jacket |

I shoot about 50 arrows a day from spring through archery season and mine is still in good shape. should last you a while. You shoot 50 arrows a day for 2 years at about 6 months per year. Lets do the math: 50x180x2=18000 arrows into the target....and still in good shape? Seriously, this is the kind of crap that makes no sense. How does it hold up so well when part of the target is a cardboard box inside of it. It is scrap foam that they get and wrap with a flimsy plastic wrap. First shot out of a 260fps and my BH was sticking out the back. It lasted me one day and your telling me it lasts 2 years shooting 50 BHs into everday. |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
i have the cube and it lasted or has lasted 5 years so far!!

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I have had one for about two years aswell I love it. It is a very durable target. Got mine on sale at Gander Mountain for $25 dollars. It is kinda tough to pull field points out of but like it says it is a broad head target. Highly recommended way outlasts the Block targets my buddies have had.

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I like my Yellow Jacket much better than the Block which was quite a disappointment to me. I saw the Utube video and the King Series does look like the best.

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I have had one for 2 years now. Probably a few hundred shots. Its ok. But not as impressed as alot of people that really recommended it. I know I have wore out three spots on it front and back. But have 6 more spots to shoot at before its totally gone. I figure a person can easily get 1000 shots in it befor it bites the dust if you shoot at least nine spots on both sides. One thing I don't like is I pull out chucks out of it now. Not near as bad as the block.

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
Someone commented earlier about shooting fieldtips into their morrel yellow jacket. I know for a fact this target is absolutely worthless for fieldtips. I shot it three times and all three arrows burried to the fletches and it took two of us to pull them out, and your trying to tell me putting soap on them helped. Im guessing my arrows probably would have been sticking in the ground behind the target if I did that.

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
Passthru---- Yes they are definantely a bi@** to pull out with fieldtips. Yes we had to make a lil contraption in a bottle with sponges and really soapy water and thats how we shot all year. They were still a pain but it did make it 100 times easier! As far as punching up to the fletchings on the first three shots on I am assuming a NEW target WOW what kinda setup you using cause im gonna get me one of dem'!

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I've shot several, several hundred shots into mine with Muzzys -- very few of those were with the practice blades; most were with actual blades. My Yellowjacket has held up extremely well, and I can live with pulling out occasional chunks better than all the little foam slivers I was getting all over the place with the other one.
I'd highly recommend it as my broadhead target of choice. |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
My Yellow Jacket made me nuts! I'm constantly tinkering with my bow and it seems like all of buddies like to shoot my targets too. Trying to group tune BH's and FP's is just downright a PIA so I bought a Rhinehart 18 and one and I'm not looking back. I've shot and my buddies have shot it a lot this year and they live up to their hype. Not one pass thru in nearly 18 months. I know its been shot with at least 500 BH's in the last 2 months. Mainly fixed blades too. I gave my Yellow Jacket away. Dan/Vars (bavarian mtn. hound) [/align] |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
dang, after watching that video, im almost convinced to buy a AWT!
just dont know how biased it is. i was going to buy me a nice broadhead target...probably the yellow jacket...but parents are talking of moving. if i dont have a yard to shoot in, i would waste 50+$..so im waiting. i bought a 30$ piece of foam at Dick's sporting goods. its about 2" thick and really hard foam. ive shot countless broadheads into it. this is the second season it seem. i got it about all shot out now. i bet i got 300+ into it...id say i got my 30$ out of it... |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I just got a Yellow Jacket yesterday. Had a Morrell Six Shooter(junk).
I have put 50 bh's into it so at 285fps and they stop them real well. This target seems alot tougher than most. I wonder if the difference in opinion might be that the fill material is not consistant from one batch to the next. |

RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
i couldnt believe that when i watched that video. ya...i can stuff more foam in there...heck i can rebuild it...but 50$ for some foam?
i really want a big ole foam block. i see tons of people shooting them around here. i seen them down the river by the boats and boat docks. i think they use them for dock floats...i really want to get my hands on one. most of them run like 6ft long by 2-3ft deep...and it seems to be a good foam to shoot into. might not "heal" might sliver...but the things are huge. chop it into 3 2x2x2 sections and make 3 targets...that aughta last forever....im still tryin to hunt me one down...i really need a BH target...dont wanna spend 50$ on junk. worse comes to worse i will buy my 30$ piece of foam from Dick's...mine held up a year...glue it to the new one, and i will really get life out of them.... |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
Mauser--- I can assure you that the yellow jacket is one great target for broadheads!! I AM NOT affiliated with Morrell in any aspect!
UNLIKE SOMEONE ELSE HERE THAT IS AFFILIATED WITH THE ONE AND ONLY "BLOCK" TARGET!! I wont point out any names but if you read back through he knows an awful lot about how to bash "other" targets!!! The yellow jacket is made with cardboard in it but it is just holding the different layers of foam together and after easy15000 arrows between me and a buddy the past two years it is now ready for the trash! Yes I did just say 15000 arrows but hopefully i dont get bashed by someone for saying that!! Anyhow for 40-60$I WILL HAVE NO PROBLEM BUYING ANOTHER ONE!! One things for sure my yard wont look like I sent a certain "grey" target through a woodchipper in it!!;) Good Luck guys!! |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
Is it a 2 drink minimum to listen to you. You're hilarious. I am simply stating facts that when I shot it with a 260fps bow my first arrow stuck out the back. I'm not sure how I would ever get 150 shots into without wearing it out let alone 15,000.
Come on, if it lasted 15000 BH shots nobody would ever have to buy a target again. |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I had bought one of the Yellow Jacket Broadhead targets a couple of weeks ago. Well, I almost missed the target once, and the bottom blade of the broadhead cut the cardboard holding the target together. The target was still usable, but couldn't use the handle. So I emailed Morrell's customer service, and asked them if there was a way they could tell me to fix it. I told them that it was entirely my fault, nothing wrong on their part. Bernie from Morell emailed me back, told me to give him my address, he would send me a new one. This was on Tues., the Fed EX man brung me my new target today! That is pretty good customer service if you ask me.

First shot out of a 260fps and my BH was sticking out the back. I think YOU'RE the one who should be offering two drink minimums to watch your show! :D |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
I am not an employee of Field Logic!
And I do not bash. I simply state facts when someone puts out a ridiculous claim on what the targets do. If you're happy with your target great. I know what happened to mine the first time I shot into it. |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
You discredit yourself even further. Real classy representation of Field Logic!
I'd bet a good sum of money that if you called Field Logic at 800 282 4868 and asked for Chad Stoll (the name you list in your profile) that it wouldn't take long to find you! [8D]It's pretty obvious when every post is nothing more than a bash of your competition. What you don't realizeis you turn way more people off by doing thatthan you win over. Many people won't even use a producteven ifit IS good after such backhanded ways. |
RE: Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Glad someone else agrees with me!!
But for now I am going to head out and shoot at my target and try not to plow through it with my 260fps arrow!!! Hahaha ya gotta love it!!! Hey Chad you got busted buddy, you can do two things now admit to being a field logic employee and take the bashing or you can not and no one will still listen to you! Have a fine day! Come on, if it lasted 15000 BH shots nobody would ever have to buy a target again. I guess we know what the ''block'' is striving for!! MORE SALES???????? |
