Parrel Limb Bow Case
I am looking for a good parrel limb hard bow case that will not break the bank. I have tried the Plano BOW MAX XT and it didnot hold up very well during transport via airlines. What is your recommendations for a case for a Switchback XT? Thanks

RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
For my Switchback XT, I brought the VANGUARD bow case, it is made for the Switchback XT, perfect fit
|
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
My SKB double bow case has travelled all over the country and has never let me down. My BowTech Old Glory just barely fits in it. So I would think the Switchback should fit.

RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
What Kodiak said. SKB, they make a case for parallel limbs, my Allegiance fits in it fine. For $250 you will never buy another one.

RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
I have read that the SKB is a great bowcase. I know you get what you pay for usually. Just hoping to find a good dependable one for around 100-150. I have seen that the SKB Freedom case has had bad reviews for lack of room in the case. Any opinions on this one?

RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
No experience with the SKB Freedom.
I never could understand skimping on a good case. Is it really worth it to have a several hundred dollar bow or several thousand dollar hunt ruined so you can save $50 - $75 on a quality case? If you get a quality case it's an expense you'll only incur once and the piece of mind you'll have when you check in at the airline is well worth the extra outlay, as long as they don't lose it...[:@] |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
SKB Double Bow Case works flawlessly.
Why put a $1000 bow in a $40 case? Protect your investment the right way. The SKB Freedom is a nice case but you are correct, there is little room to play with. Also, I wasn't impressed by the locks/handles. They were molded plastic whereas the Double Case is steel. With airlines having baggage restrictions, I love my Double Case. It allows me to put my bow, arrows, camo clothing and a ton of other gear in that case for transport. Those gorillas at the airport can throw my case around all day and won't hurt a thing. |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
That is true concerning the $1k bow and 40-50 dollar case. I am looking for adecent case this time. What do you think about the SKB Geometric Parrel Bow Case? It is supposedly new this year.
|
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
It still has those Nylon Latches which I am not a big fan of. Although they are durable, I would just rather have steel.
There are two basic areas of failure on a bow case. The hinges and the latches. Make sure you check these areas over closely before you buy. |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
Which SKB case (model #) is the one with the metal latches? I want to make sure I get the right one.
Thanks |

RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
i have the freedom bow case and do not like it that much. I have a guardian and a trophy ridge titan v drive arrow rest and the site is mashed up against the top of the bow case. its already created a permenant indention in foam inside the case and i only had the case for 1.5 months. the latches and locks are plastic. when i put the arrows inside the bow i have to work around my bow sight. I am sure there are far better cases out there and I will look into a better one for my 1500 dollar package.

RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
Have never heard of this online store before. Caution should always be taken when something sounds too good to be true...

RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
It sounds like that model is a good case. Does anyone have any experience with the new 2007 SKB ATA Parrel Limb Case. It is only a single bow case but appears to have a lot of room inside unlike the Freedom.

ORIGINAL: midsouth_hunter It sounds like that model is a good case. Does anyone have any experience with the new 2007 SKB ATA Parrel Limb Case. It is only a single bow case but appears to have a lot of room inside unlike the Freedom. I am very leary of the plastic/nylon latches and hinges. I had an old case that had two latches crack after it fell out of the back of the truck. Since then...my bow only gets the best. As for that case in the link...that is the exact case I have. If you are leary about purchasing on-line....call SKB and tell them that you have found a deal andare wondering if they will match it. Tell them you are leary about purchasing fromthe website. My father does this all the time and has not found a single company that would turn him down. (It's all about customer satisfaction and repeat customers) Best of luck! |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
I have been researching this as well and have decided on Kalispel. They range from 43" - 52" long, call themfor their sizes. SKB will only hold a dozen arrows where Kalispel holds 2 dozen. http://www.kalispelcaseline.com/Pg/HuntingCase.asp First they are all metal, which will handle the airlines a lot better than plastic. Why do you think they that cargo containers are aluminum and not plastic? Especially, when plastic is chaeaper. I used to be a freight forwarder, so I speak from experience. I am trying to decide if I want a single or a double case. You can find a great price online here http://www.exploreproducts.com/kalispel-bow-case-parallel-limb-bc431606.htmor if you ar going through VA, try Old Dominion Sports Center / 540-667-4867

The arrow holder is foam and they are showing the case holdingarrows with broadheads on them in the center of the case? So one bump on the plane ride to your destination releases that arrow from the foam onto your bow string and POW! Your hunt is over with! Even with field tips that can happen. Realistically nobody carries arrows like this unless you hunt using a walmart $20 case so why integrate this design into a $250 case? Also, the arrow holder is right in the middle of the case. Not smart if you ask me. I like to pack a lot of soft gear in with my bow for added support. The arrow holder (if any) should be moved to one side or the other so the archer can have one large pocket rather than 2 smaller ones to hold gear. I bought a double bow case and can fit my plano bow max case inside the SKB case. The SKB can hold tons of arrows, well more than a dozen. My best advice is to see everything in person before you buy. Take in all your gear and sit down with the case like you were going on a long trip that afternoon. See what works and what doesn't. FYI: When I flew last year November, Northwest Airlines out of BWI was not allowing cases to be padalocked shut. They had to lock internally. Why? I asked and the lady said for "security reasons". |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
Another issue with the foam holders is that the glue weakens over time and the arrow weight pulls the whole strip down. It's the way my old cheap hard plastic Plano case was made. Always reattaching the foam strip.
There's also no room in that case for anything but your bow and arrows. When I buy a new hard case I'm probably going with the SKB. As for MDBUCKHUNTER; Lee, You can't give Josh a compliment like that. His head will swell even more. This may be the first intelligent post he's made since I've known him!!!:D j/k Josh It needs to be Saturday so we can head to LAS!!!! |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
Don't make me leave you in Lancaster this weekend! It's a long Amish buggy ride back to Baltimore! lol
|
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
Maybe I'll meet a nice Amish girl on my buggy ride.
I'll have to look at their SKB cases. You are a bad influence on my archery budget. Or lack of archery budget. Ilooked at the SKB Freedom at Gander Mt a while back and really thought it was not well made. Not for the price they want. |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
SKB is top of the line. Worth every penny.
Dave....don't you need a grain scale as well? Can't make your own arrows without balancing them first? And no....you can't weigh yourself on the bathroom scale, step off, grab an arrow, jump back on and record the difference. lol |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
I have a SKB compact case #5000 I think and I keep two dozen arrows, two release's along with all my other junk in there and have taken it all over. The only damage I have incurred is the outside of the case gets scratched up a little.
|
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
I Agree with the majority, SKB makes a nice case. I like my 4114 and freedom case both, but when I fly I would opt for the 4114:D
|
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
I really don't like the freedom case by SKB. We ordered a bunch of them last fall for the shop I work/shoot for and 5 of them came to the shop cracked in shipping.

RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
I will have to find a shop that has the 2SKB-4114A casse. As all of the shops that I have called just have the 2SKB-4114 case. The differnece is more than the letter "A",it represents arrow holder. I called SKB to try to find another dealer in my area and asked about the arrow holder capacity as it is not shown, nor mentioned on the website. The rep told me that indeed it's an old picture of the 2SKB-4114 and that the 2SKB-4114A holds 10-12 arrows.
mdbuckhunter, do you have any stores close to you that carry 2SKB-4114A case? I am trying to not to drive 90 mins one way to look a bowcase and not work. Also, on the Kalispel case, was there anything else that you didn't like about it? BSLugnut |
RE: Parrel Limb Bow Case
I purchased my SKBfrom Lancaster Archery Supply. Call and see if they have them in stock before making a trip.
Cabelas in PA carries SKB. Bass Pro in Columbia, MD also carries SKB. Best of luck! |
