Slick Trick or Muzzy
 

Hello again. Just wondering which BH I should get. Stuck between the slick trick 100 magnums and the muzzy mx4. Now already considering that my bow is tuned properly, which BH with your reasoning do you prefer? Do slick tricks really fly like field points? Would greatly appreciate any input! Thank you

You will find some that like both, some that don't like both or some who may not like either. Personally I have never shot a Slicktrick and I have shot the MX-4. Just my opinion but I'd rather shoot the new Muzzy MX-3 than the MX-4. I found inconsistentcy with 3 different packs of MX-4s. In all honesty I will be trying neither this fall. I am completely satisfied with the Rocky Mtn. Turbos.......a head you hear little about, but in my opinion is a great head.

This "fly like field points" business is something that I would want to verify on a target - even if your bow is tuned properly. For instance, some bows will indeed shoot broadheads and field points to the same spot when paper tuned to a perfect tear. Some will shoot certain broadheads the same, and others will be not the same. In some instances, you can move the rest and/or nocking point to get the broadhead and field point impacts to coincide. This may result in a less than perfect paper tear, but as long as the arrow is still flying straight, the same impact point with the two types of heads may be the better option. This latter scenario is the case with my Hoyt Pro Tec. My Fred Bear shoots everything the same from a perfect paper tune.

The other solution is to paper tune the bow perfectly and, if the broadheads and field points don't hit the same spot, just move the sight so the bow is zeroed for the broadheads.

Based on the design of the broadhead, I would expect the Slicktrick to shoot a little closer to field points than a Muzzy. But you never know . . . .

Coug got it right... (of course ;)).

Slick Tricks are good heads, and I shot them last year. I'll be shooting the MX-3s this year...

Greg - I haven't seen any of the MX-3's. What's the difference between that head and the regular Muzzy 3 blade?

Roskoe, it's the newest addition to the "MX" series after the MX-4... Basically, same "shorty" profile with the steep blades, but with a 3-blade configuration as opposed to the 4. It also comes in an extremely wide 1.25" cutting diameter, which I really like.

I've talked with some of the Muzzy Pro-Staffers, and everyone is saying this head is flying like a dart... and they didn't necessarily say that with the MX-4, which is why I said Coug "got it right." :)

Forgot to mention... it's also got thicker blades than the other Muzzys (except the MX-4) as well... .025 to be exact.

Thanks. These sound worth trying. Amazing how heads are getting shorter and blades are getting thicker. Basic evolution, I guess.

If I had to choose between the 2... I'd go w/ the ST's. They are very good little broadheads.

muzzy shooter here, im shooting the regular old three blade 100 grains for now, but after i burn these up on does, misses, and hopefully a buck, im getting the mx3. they seem like a beefier version of mine, but at the same weight some how, lol.
