RE: Slick Trick or Muzzy
I was a muzzy guy but I will be hunting with the new Maniac from AfterShock Archery
www.aftershockarchery.com The muzzy look with a super thick COC blade just awesome. |
RE: Slick Trick or Muzzy
I wasn't lucky enough to harvest a deer with my Slick Tricks last season, but I was very impressed by their flight from my bow. I have more confidence in them right now than any other broadhead I've shot. However, dedicated muzzy guys will say the same. Buy a pack of each and see which one you and your bow like the best.

RE: Slick Trick or Muzzy
im a muzzy shooter. shot the 3blade 100gr head last year. this year i got 125gr 3blade heads to shoot.
the one thing i dont get about the steeper blades is you would think they would add more resistance...the blades have to cut more, faster...i dont know...hard to explain...but some of them are close to FLAT razor blades...opposed to traditional style heads that slowly widen the cutting diameter...i dont know..dead is dead... i like the muzzys...havent shot the STs though..probably never will. if i switch to anything it will be 4blade stingers or snuffer SSs.. |
RE: Slick Trick or Muzzy
Mauser 06 - I have had the same thoughts. Some of the original hunting broadheads, like the Bear Razorhead and the Wenzel Woodsman, were long heads with a shallow blade angle. The new generation broadheads are all shorter and have a steeper blade angle. My guess is that they fly better,in terms of shooting close to the same as field points. But they certainly have more resistance going through the animal. Maybe this is a moot point in the world of IBO 340 bows . . . .

RE: Slick Trick or Muzzy
I have shot a pile of elk, deer, turkeys and all matter of small critters with the Slick Tricks. They are the most consistantly accurate head I have ever shot. I haven't shot a head that kills quicker or leaves a larger bloodtrail either. Being short andCNC machined from steel, they are a great head. I am not an aluminum broadhead fan, especially when hunting elk, but the muzzy rates right there with the Innerlock, which I have also killed a lot of critters with. Here is a picture of a Titanium broadhead that I engineered and will be on the market very soon. It flies extremely well, is the toughest head onthe market in my opinion and bleeds critters likecrazy. Uggg.....I can't get the picture small enough to fit on here. You will have to see it on the web site at www.flinchoutdoorgear.com Flinch
