Badlands 2200 backpack
 

Ok, I have fallen in love for the second time in my life....Ok, third, but who's counting? [8D] The Badlands 2200 is........well.......amazing is about all I can say. There's not much it won't do. I'm still figuring it out, actually. (DWD, you here somewhere buddy???) It will carry your bow, rifle, shotgun, you can haul meat out with it, it's got more room than my closet, everything is very accessible, and is incredibly comfortable to wear.


There was some thought that went into this one. The zippers are very easy to grab, even with big, heavy gloves on. And there are quite a few of them, so it's a good thing.


It's "batwing" construction wraps all your goodies up nice and tight, and transfers the load to your hips, not your back. It has a pocket on the side designated for a spotting scope (which I don't have, but I'm SURE I can find something to put there), is hydration bladder compatible (which I wish I would have gotten, but I will) and even has an orange vest tucked neatly away all the way in the bottom of the thing ( I actually just found this tonight....Never knew it was there). I like that feature because it can be used as a bird vest to haul your gobbla out in the spring.

You can actually access the main compartment from the back. Simply slide the shoulder straps off, slide the pack around to your front, and voila. There you go. You no longer have to take your pack off to access your goodies. It's also incredibly comfortable. One question, how hot will it be to use in warm weather? Do you think the pockets formed betwen the... cushions? in the back will be enough to keep your back cool?

I notice in September or even shed hunting now in warm weather, with the pack I currently have, it causes my back to sweat from being pressed right up against itand makes my shirt damp. Not good.

Any chance you can get some pictures of the interior and the pockets opened up?

I have a feeling this is the pack I'll purchase this summer.

I'll get those photos for you, probably tomorrow. I wondered about the heat thing myself, but I believe you are correct, there should be an air pocket to keep your back cool....I'll be able to answer that better after this weekend. ;)

you are my hero for doing this review! I've been debating about getting this pack for when I need something more than a fanny pack. You just sealed the deal for me and made badland a couple of bucks. Thank you very much!

I would also take a look at the TimberHawk pack. I used one side by side the Badlands last year(my buddy had) he's switching over this year to the Timberhawk pack.

Dan, I still need to get you those photos, I'll get them, I promise. I took my pack along shed/mushroom hunting today just to kind of give it the go round....One thing I really don't like about it, the chest strap keeps walking up and tries to choke me. I kept it unbuckled all day, I plan on emailing Badlands with that complaint. Other than that, it's awesome. Oh, and yes, by back got a little sweaty, though not as bad as with other packs I've owned. I'll weara t-shirt to my stand and stuff it in a zip top bag when I get there, and put on my Scent Lok base layer then as well.

It's awefully comfortable to wear, that's for sure, minus that one strap...

Have you looked into the the rancho safari backpacks they are great and they hold arrows and you bow.

You think maybe it might just be that one model that has the problem with the chest strap? Maybe because of the size of the pack?

I was looking at... I think the SuperDay as well. A little smaller than the 2200, but still quite a bit of room.

I'll take a good look at them when I get done with my interview at Sportsman's Warehouse on Tuesday.

I think they retail for around $160...I ordered mine from the shop I work at, so fortunately I didn't pay that for it.....It'll be the onlypack you'll ever need, that's for sure...

Dan, I'm not sure about that chest strap thing.....I don't know if the other models have it or what......It's also possible I don't have something adjusted quite right, I'm still figuring this thing out...[8D]

You know, as good as this pack is, I should have figured.....That chest strap is adjustable....It's not an issue any longer....VERY comfortable.

A good pack is worth the money, but not too much money.

Try loosening the shoulder straps, clasp your chest strap where it barely is taught, and then pull down the shoulder straps snug.If it is working up on you,you may be doing it backwards. Just a thougth.

Hey sorry buddy... it's been a long weekend and now week. I was about to say you might want to adjust that chest strap and you'd be alright;). You absolutely cannot go wrong with this pack. I like the meat sack for when I'm packing out my bull Elk in September :D.

Hey Mo, please post photos of your pack holding: the bow, the bed roll, GPS, Radio and a handle of Crown. These are very important capabilities of this pack:D

I too purchased this pack about a month ago. I love it! It is going to be able to do absolutely everything that I need it to do. It is the most comfortable pack that I have ever owned. I can't wait until fall to really give it a go!

Does anyone have any pictures of the Badlands 2200 with guns and bows attached? I have been looking at this pack and have not seen a easy way to carry your gun or bow with out just strapping it on where you can. I have seen some posts including the one here with all the picture that claims this is a feature of this pack.

Picture would be great....I am trying to decide between this pack and the Elberlestock X1A1. I the like the meat haulling possiblities with the Badlands but I like the gun and bow hauling feature of the Elberlestock.

I'll try to get you a photo later today. I'm home alone at the moment, and it's a little difficult to photograph yourself......[&:] It's very easy, and incredibly comfortable to carry though. I used it alot this past spring turkey hunting.

OK, I see thanks for the quick response witht he photo. Is it only attached by the one strap around the bow and arrows? Is there a pocket for the gun stock to sit in like some of the other Badlands packs?

No, there are 2 straps, you just can't see the other one. It's under the the arrows and below the stab...

No, there is no pocket, but it holds it quite securely.

I just recieved my 2200 today. Where does the hydration bladder go? There is a hole for the hose but I do not see a place for the bladder itself. Also what size bladder works best for this pack? I have a 101 oz. baldder now.

If you unzip the main compartment, there is a pouch for the bladder right there on the top......I believe it is designed for a 2 litre bladder.

Thanks for the quick reply. I saw that little sack and did not even consider it was for the bladder. But I see the hook to hang it on now. I do not think it is a very good design. I have not used it yet but the shape of most bladders is a longer narrow shaped rether than the square shape of the little sack in the pack. Imay have to buy a different bladder like a Platapus or something smaller.
