I don't have one and don't intend to buy one. But my friend got one and he was happy. Didn't have any problem so far. The problem he has and told me was that the target couldn't hold up. :D

I have seen one, but have not shot one. Have heard from several hard core bowhunters that have and all they could say was WOW!!!!!

mt hunter, I will quickly point you to my signature and let you determine yourself how biased any response I would make on the subject would be...

I think, though, you'll find that members here over the years would agree I'm a pretty straight shooter no matter if I'm affiliated with a product or not. I can honestly say that I haven't heard one single negative remark in regards to "problems" after the sell.

Our biggest miss as a company has not been setting up videocameras to record the expressions of those who come by our factory demo booths and shoot the Guardian. I couldn't count the number of expletives, oohs and aahs after they shot the bow.

Here's a quick summation from following hundreds of readers' posts on the Guardian: It's got a bit stiffer draw cycle than some expect; it probably falls somewhere between the smooth and the speed mods currently offered on other bows. It's not the fastest bow in Bowtech's stable, but 321-329 fps ain't exactly sluggish, either.

Where this bow shines is it's sheer lack of shock and noise. I've heard several people say they were going to have to buy a quieter release, as they could now hear the "click" of their current model. I think the center-pivot design is a home run in terms of efficiency and noise reduction.

Bottom line is that I think if you get one, you'll be extremely pleased if you're looking for the attributes that make the Guardian shine: negligible noise and lack of vibration coupled with some pretty decent speeds.

Greg

Any truth in the latest rumours going around on the Guardian? Ie the limbs breaking as the bow is bing drawn and splitting the fellas head open for stiches and them suing Bowteck?
Rocky
Curious before I go out and buy one, they seem to disapear as soon as our shop gets one in.Thanks

Latest rumors!? LOL Where on earth did you hear that one? The funny part is that I actually READ the same exact description of events on another site that a guy posted happened to HIM from another new make and model. (I will not fuel the rumor mill with those details)
I didn't give it a second thought.

I have one of the first Guardians off the line.......I'm shooting it at 5grs lb. 29.5"/70#/350gr arrows and have probably an honest hmmmmmmmmm 1000 shots on it by now (including 11 full rounds of 3D and everything that goes with it including tuning, warm ups, etc etc)
It has proven to be (by my scores) the most reliable and accurate bow I have shot to date.
I'm sure the competition in my 3D league would love for me to have some limb problems.;):D

I shot one yesterday and all I can say is "wow". You don't feel anything when you shoot the bow. The best thing about it. It doesn't have all the stirng suppressors on it like the Mathews Drenalin and Hoyt Vectrix andits faster, quieter andless vibration than the two mentioned aboved.Never heard of any problems with them.

RE: bowtech guardian

Just shot one on saturday, it was smooth and quiet, hardly any vibration. But the bow was set at 50lbs shooting a fairly heavy arrow, most any quality bow will be quiet and vibration free set up like that. But all in all I was impressed, still dont like the pivot arm though. PSE gets the same results with the short limbs and no moving parts to eventualy make noise.

I shot one the other day also. Very nice shooting bow but was set at 59#. When we cranked it up to 70#, I felt more vibration and hand shock then both the Drenalin and the Vectrix also at 70#. I would shoot it next to the above mentioned bows with the same arrow. You may find that it isnt as fast as the advertised IBO speed. I grained it out to IBO and couldnt get it over 312 fps.

Dont take me the wrong way. It is a GREAT shooter, just make sure you are comparing apples to apples when you look for aspects such as smoothness of draw, hand shock, speed, etc. Of course, a 55# Guardian has less vibration and hand shock than a 70# Vectrix. But shoot a Vectrix or Drenalin at 60 to64 # and you wont feel a thing!!!

I have not shot one yet... but my friend has one and is speechless by it... He absolutely loves it.

The one I shot was set at 65lbs and I thought it shot better than any Hoyt or Mathews that I ever shot. Theresnota bow on the market that shoots at it tested IBO.

I bought a Guardian yesterday and set it up and dialed it in last night. The draw cycle is VERY different than my Drenalin but will be easy to adjust to.

I really like it so far and am looking forward to putting more arrows thru it.

I am in love with the lack of sound (which is my #1 criteria in a hunting bow). It's whisper quiet.

RE: bowtech guardian

I bought the Guardian 2 weeks ago and so far I am amazed. I will be switching to 65% let-off as soon as the pro shop gets in the post to change it. It should addaround 10 to 12 FPS, not like I will need it, but what the heck.

doublelunginem 03-13-2007 09:39 PM

RE: bowtech guardian

At the risk of sounding contradictory, my Vulcan does achieve the advertized IBO. I've shot it on 2 different chronos at 2 different bow shops in this area. 30"/70# 355 grain arrow.....328 fps at one bowshop and 329 fps at the other. The Vulcan is advertised at 325. I've only tested the Vulcan, Vectrix, and Guardian specd out to IBO. The Vulcan and Vectrix both achieved IBO speeds, but the Guardian didnt.

But hey, it ALWAYS comes down to what you prefer...

I'm going to have to throw a bog diagree out to doublelunginem on the Vectrix. I was 99% sureI was buying a Vectrix before I shot my Allegiance. Shot the Vectrix at 65 lbs and the Allegiance at 70 lbs. Until the Allegiance I've owned Bear bows for 25 yrs. So, there's no "allegiance" to any manufacturer.

RE: bowtech guardian

Congrats on your new bow. I have two friends that own the Bowtech Allegiance and love it.

About 550 shots now, just over 3 weeks old and still just love it!One of my biggest surprises to date is the fact that I have not had to adjust the peep at all. Not even a slight turn to get it to line up with my eye. On my last hunting bow I was always fiddling with the peep. I use a G5 meta peep. I think this says a lot about the factory strings from Bowtech. As good a any out there. Really like the way it points and shoots. You won't be sorry in getting one.

You will not get that speed out of your bow, with a hunting set up and with out doing modifications to it.

Dude you are full of it!! You will not get that speed out of your with a hunting set up and with out doing modifications to it.
Sapper....you in Marrero, La? I'm in Baton Rouge. Bought the bow from Bowie's. You can call up there and talk to Jay in the bow shop. He'll verify the speed of this set up. He's the one that set it up for me. No mods!!! In fact, I'll meet you up there one day and show you....lol

No need to get hostile, it is what it is....lol

RE: bowtech guardian

I wasn't trying to be hostile! I apologize if it came out that way. I know Jay he's the one that sold me the Fred Bear thatI own.He runs a great bow shop. Thats why I drive from Marrero to Baton Rouge when ever I need something done.

No need for apology, Sapper. I knew you werent being hostile....I was just messing with you cause I figured it didnt come out the way you intended. I mean, heck, us coon-asses have to stick together....lol

Where do you hunt?

21b_sapper 03-19-2007 10:58 AM

RE: bowtech guardian

Your right, us Coon-Asses need to stick together!! We have a place in Lafittewhere we do some duck and deer hunting. Last year we also had a lease in Alabama. This year we plan on hunting in Lafitte and some of the Mangement areas in Central Louisiana. We made a couple of bow huntsat Three Rivers WMA last year with out much success. I also made a few hunts at Bens Creek WMA didn't kill any thing, but seen the biggest buck I ever seen, while doing some scouting. We are also going to try LakeOphelia this year. Thefew deer we killed last year, where killed in Alabama and Lafiite.

doublelunginem 03-19-2007 01:57 PM

RE: bowtech guardian

My Bro n Law plans on hunting LakeOphelia this next year. I paid a pretty high price to be in a lease for next year around Norwood, LA....1000 acres/7 members, 2 of which hardly hunt. Land is kind of above Norwood with 700 acres in Louisiana and 300 acres in Mississippi, but still all connected. Nice deer out there and plenty of deer out there. Only about 3 of us bow hunt, so the place is wide open in bow season. Of course, I bow hunt all year. I may hunt LakeOphelia next year with my brother in law a couple of times. He's got some buddies that know that place inside and out.

RE: bowtech guardian

Lake Ophelia has some nice deer. Went up there at the end of the season to check out the place, you need to check out the pics of some of deer that was killed up there. They killed some monsters. I like Lake Ophelia because they have bow hunting only areas.

doublelunginem 03-20-2007 03:19 PM

RE: bowtech guardian

That does sound nice....I dont even know where it is, but I'm going to have try to hunt there. Dont you have to take a Bow safely course to be able hunt there? Are there places to park a camper trailer for overnight stay? And I guess you have to just hunt out of a climbing stand? Cant put up lock-on's can you?

21b_sapper 03-20-2007 06:57 PM

RE: bowtech guardian

You do need the bowhunting safety course to hunt Lake Ophelia since its a federal management area. The only draw back to the place is that there is no camping but its not far from some state management areas that allows camping. I'm not sure but I think there is a pay camp ground not far from the place. You also need a $15 yearly permit to hunt or fish Lake Ophelia. I'm not sure about the stand question, because I hunt out of a climber. You can get all the info you need from Lake Ophelia's web site. Lake Ophelia is not for from Marksville.

RE: bowtech guardian

Over 1000 shots with the Guardian and about 350 with the Commander. I put a couple bale counters on a post by where I practice and keep track of the number of shots from the bows for the fun of it.
No signs of wear & tear at all. What I'm really surprised at is that I have had no string stretch at all on the Guardian. Sure can't say thatabout theTrykon that I had. I was always having to adjust the peep on it.

RE: bowtech guardian

From the bows I shot the Guardian is my first choice.

Unfortunately here in Ontario Canada BOWTECH has NOT shipped any 60 pound Guardians to our Distributor, 70's yes--but not ONE 60.
I've ordered my bowat the ATA show in January and to date I'm still to see it here.
Heard that quite afew are available in the USA---if ONLYBOWTECH can be a bit more accommodating towards the Canadian market.
Guess we're just a drop in the bucket--but in the end--we're still a CUSTOMER!!!

TerryM 04-02-2007 06:56 PM

RE: bowtech guardian

Is the problem Bowtech or what the Distributor orders? Dunno but the larger part of the market wants 70 pounders so my guess is thats what they cater to first.

ampahunter 04-02-2007 08:19 PM

RE: bowtech guardian

Terry, what I can tell you is North Sylva has ordered me a 60# Guardian, way back in February, after the ATA Show, and so far THEY (North Sylva) the Distributor here in Ontario has NOT received any thus far. 70# yes, lots, modules lots, but NO 60# Gurdian as fas as "I" know.
If they are 60# Guardian bows in Ontario they must have come thru a different source--strange!!
