Thanks johnshiredman, That is a ton of information. My brother shoots a Schaefer rest but he has the older version so he had to moleskin everything on his. I see you have the newer version. Does that silence pad really quiet the prongs on release? Also the prong ends are those a soft material or the typical hard black plastic type stuff. That is the problem I have on my current rest is the noise it makes on draw. I moleskinned the prongs while hunting but for annoyance purposes removed when 3-d shoots have came in now.

every where I have looked, these have been around 100. Is there a site hiding on he internet that has these cheaper? or is this a hunt ebay and maybe get lucky type deal.

If all else fails, I will ask my dadd and brother for it for my Birthday, Right before Hunting Season!

i have a gen-1 on my bowtech tribute...i like it...but the rest pops up too fast making my arrow fly off if i'm not carful....can be kinda noisy....but all in all great rest

I am probably the exception on this rest. I bought a new Ross 334 this past fall and was determined to buy the best of everything for this bow. I bought a Schaffer rest as I had heard they were the best of everything in a drop away. I had previously used Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter rests. Anyway, I put this rest on my bow and shot it for about a week for a long time each day. I will say that I liked everything about this rest except its lack of containment. As was mentioned, your arrow will pop off if you don't draw really slow. This wasn't something I wanted to have to worry about when drawing on a deer. I also found that it didn't contain the arrow much at all if the bow was tilted to the left or right for those trickier shots from a treestand that we are presented with at times. Overall, I just felt like it was a dropaway version of a plain old prong rest and not worth the $115 that it cost. As mentioned, the adjustments and materials and craftmenship are second to none on the rest, but just didn't feel that it would make a very good hunting rest. If I was was target shooter, I would be buying another Schaffer. However, I ended up returning the rest and buying the new Trophy Taker Pronghorn rest that I absolutely love.

That orange is fron arrow sliding in the rest while being drawn. The fuzzy coating isn't very thick and wears quickly to the orange, but doesn't hurt anything. The orange coating is just like any other prong type covering.
