I'dwouldfor sure usea release along with a string "D"loop. As to a particular brand of release I personally would go to a good pro-shop and ask to try-out several, most shops will do this for you. Also, get one with a buckle and avoid velcro, too noisy.

A release is extremely helpful. You should use a string loop too. I use the Cabela's release. It's perfectly fine to me.

most peopel shoot better with releases. as far as which one, ALL personal preference. there is no magic release and everyone has there favorite. i wouldnt get velcro tho b/c of the noise issue. but since we are all giving our favorites, truball.[8D]

Now that's funny, I've been using a Scott Mongoose release for many years now, without a single mishap???? Sounds like you've must of dropped it or damaged it in some way, because they work awesome!! First time I "EVER" heard of anyone complaining about a Scott!!![:-]
