2006 bow review in Field & Stream!
#1
Hey, has anyone seen the latest Field & Stream magazine? They have a great article on the latest 2006 bows on the market with a pro/con evaluation.

My Reflex Highlander is listed in there too, but I don't necessarily agree with the rating they gave it. To me it is a sweet bow that is a heck of a shooter for the money. So what if it's a Reflex and not a true Hoyt. Or a Fred Bear or a Bowtech or whatever... The money I saved, bought a bunch of quality accessories to trick it up.

Yeah, Butch. I saw that. Haven't read it yet, just kind of thumbed through it. Those "bow reviews" always kinda tick me off. If there was a black eye on our beloved sport I would say commercialism. Seems that if a bow doesn't cost more than $500 or so, it just gets an average rating. These guys that write those articles are sponsored by "Joe Blow Archery" and only rate the expensive ones higher. Obviously so that the expensive ones sell more. That's just my opinion, and I'll stop there. I get pretty heated about this topic.
One thing is for SURE....you got one HELL of a bow at a GREAT price, no question. I believe the Reflex line is one of the MOST underated bows out right now. For the money, you just can't beat them! Period. Their entire line up is top notch. Hope I didn't just hijack this.......my apologies...

I've seen it in the past and it most likely is similar to the Outdoor life one. I don't mind them. There is more going on than just an evaluation, it's business and knowing that causes me to not get to worked up over their results. They do give some scientific results even though the results can vary. I like the noise tests. Wouldn't mind having a tool like that.

Anyway, thanks mobow.... Yeah, the Reflex line is very much a Hoyt, but just doesn't have the "name".

I make all my outdoor hunting purchases by what field & stream mag says; that an outdoor life mag. Seriously; are you really worried about what some idiot critic in some dumb mag said. The guy that gave the review probably doesn't even know how to shoot a bow. Reflex's are top notch bows.

The article spoke very highly of the two budget bows they tested, the Reflex and Bear. The only problem i have is they didn't throw in a Bowtech to run against the Hoyt, Mathews, and PSE shot at a to tier bow. Diamonds are nice bows but a step off the bowtechs. all in all it was decent read and the Bear realy suprised me also. All reflex bows seem to be very nice for the money.
