No, they don't work good for me , they work GREAT for me. I have to buy another for around the house. They keep mosquitos off me so well in the woods I told my wife about it. Now she uses it when working in the garden or when we have our 18mo. old daughter out playing in the yard. Heck I tell everyone I know that likes to spend time outdoors that the Thermacell is a must have. I need one of the holster things for mine. I forgot it last time I went hog hunting and really missed it. Best accessory I've purchased in a while.

What about any odors? Can Deer smell them?

I shot a doe at 10yds last year. I was on the ground with my back to a tree. My Thermacell was sitting on the ground beside me. I have also taken a hog at 15yds with it beside me. I don't think odor is an issue, however I have not seen any big bucks up close with it either. Coincidence?

I can say without a doubt that they work. I just returned from a Saskatchewan bear hunt. The mosquitos were horrible but when I turned the Thermocell on the problem was solved. I saw plenty of bear while using it too. On the down side, it does emit smoke everynow and then and you can smell it. I havent tried it on other game as of yet.

For appx $20 it's not a bad thing to have in your pack.

I would guess if a bear did not spook then you should not have to worry about spooking whitetail. I have not even seen a bear while hunting.[&o]

Works for me too, as long as it is not windy.

I was out doing some turkey huntin today with Nubo and he fired his up and I was quite impressed with how effective the Thermacell was. I am a believer. Stupid me mine is still in a box but that will change immediately.
