Hoyt Trykon

Any thoughts on the new Hoyt Trykon? I shot it the other day and loved it. I have a long draw length so i ordered the Trykon XL.

I have one on order. I shot the Hoyt Trykon, Hoyt UltraTec, Mathews SB & SBXT, Mathews Conquest & Ovationand Bowtech Tribute... same nightone after the other.I threw out the longer bows first... they felt great and shot great but I wasn't looking for a longer bow... I only shot them for draw and shot comparison. I wanted to make sure I wasn't making a mistake going to a shoter bow. On the shorter bows I narrowed it to the SBXT & Trykon... and believe me... I would have taken any of the bows I shot in a heart beat... but I took the Trykon. Why? It just felt best for me and at full draw it was absolutely perfectly still in my hand.
The dealer was great... he shoots a Bowtech and kept telling me... forget the brand name... shoot all the bows as much as you need to and pick the one that feals best to you and that gives you the best results. After I picked the Trykon he told me that by watching me that would have been the one he would have picked for me... maybe that's a salesman talking but he never pushed me from one to the other.

Too try to answer your question... you have to answer that for yourself.. if you like it go for it. I'm shooting a 10yr old bow right now so everyone of these bows impressed me... A LOT. Good luck.

Very well said. I have the Trykon and I love it. I to shot several and they are all very nice. I personally like the tec riser and the way if feels in my hand. I was not a lucky as you as the dealer pushed the SBXT very hard but I just didn't like it as much.

So the best advice I have heard on here is shoot them all and decide for YOURSELF. The name on the bow is just a name. Good luck.

I shot one today thinking of getting one just curious is $300.00 a fair amount for a trade in price for a bare bow for my V-TEC? or $375.00 for the accesories I have on my V-TEC?

If you check the classifieds both here and over on archerytalk.com I think you will see that Vtecs are listed usually around $500.00 used without accessories. You also have to factor in the savings in retail tax from your trade in.

I was looking at one the other day at the pro shop here in town. I didn't shoot it though. I'll have to wait at lease another year before I get a new bow. Nice looking bow though. I have a Vipertec now and love it.

how much are trykons ust the bare bow?

RE: Hoyt Trykon

Prices range, I got mine for about $680, but that was discounted from $730 because I bought all of my accessories through the same guy.

Basically, the set up price, with all of my accessories drove the price for thebow down to $680.

I thought $680 was a pretty decent price for Trykon, I know guys are buying them from ranges of $650-750.

I personally like the VTec better than the Trykon if I were going to buy a Hoyt. I shot the Trykon and I personally didn't like the draw. To me something didn't feel right with the valley. Maybe it is my imagination but I wasn't 100% impressed.

I am not a big fan of split limbs so I am probably the wrong person to give a Hoyt opinion.

I shoot the Mathews Switchback. I also have an AR-31. Might be willing to sell that before next year. I just bought the Switchback and haven't had it hunting yet. Getting the fine tuning done right now and spending some time in the range.

RE: Hoyt Trykon

I just purchased a Mathews Switchback XT yesterday, but had a hard time choosing bewteen the Trykon and the Mathews. What a great bow both units are. The Mathews just felt a "bit" better, mainly due to the lighter weight. Both shot fantastic, and I had a hard time not picking the Hoyt. Actually, when at full draw, the Hoyt felt more solid. Really it came down to almost flipping a coin, and, since I do a bit of stalking, the weight was a factor.

I would say that if you are looking for a bow, go to a dealer that is pretty objective and that will let you fire a number of models. Then it comes down to what feels best for you. I have not tried the BowTech Allegience, but heard that the Trykon, Switchback and Allegience are three bows that are in the same class.

I was at the pro shop (BlueRidge Backwoods) with my wife and she got a new RinTec XL and I was feeling up the trykons and really like them as well. I think next year that will be the one for me. I have a long draw as well, so I may need to go to the ProTec since it is offered in 33" because even with my release I think I will max out the Trykon, but I am hoping not since I really like that Trykon, and Hoyts in general, I'm jealous of my wife's new rig!

Right there with ya. I shot the Trykon XL for the second time today, and I finally have the funds to get it tommorrow. It will retire my Hoyt Magnatec and UltraTec. I am going to put a NAP rest on it with a TruGlo sight. Oh ya, the new turkey and target killer will definately come in handy....

Wihunter402,hey. I ordered mine from west town archery in milwaukee.
It's about 40 min from my house, and I have another hoyt dealer closer, but
the service there is great.
Your set-up looks pretty nice.Hows it shoot?
What kind of stabilizer is that?

Finally got my Trykon XL today with the goodies. Sighted it in and I had a great time, but I am now sore and must relax... Have a great time with your trykons to all who bought one, and definately take them out in the field this year.

Wisconsin
I know what you mean about going where the service is good. I have a couple of places closer but I really like Pappas. My only problem with them would be that his Dad really pushes the Mathews. It is a great bow but I liked the Trykon more. I had shot Bowtec's, Mathews and Hoyts at several places but Pappas just beats the prices everywhere else. He only carries Mathews and Hoyt so I usually go elsewhere to test everything out. Good for him because he really only has to set me up.
Anyway it shoots sweet and I can't wait to move into my new house. I will have an 18 yard indoor range in the basement. Should get lots of shooting in now. The Stabilizer is the FUSE short one. I really like it. Gotta say that the AST sites from VBG are amazingly bright. Gonna be a LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG wait for fall to get here.

wisconsin 01-25-2006 09:14 AM

RE: Hoyt Trykon

Wihunter,your gonna love an indoor range,I got a 14 yarder X 5ft wide with
a big block target at the end.I put a bump in at the end, kinda like a doorless
closet about 5ft wideX3ft deep with an outlet just so I could store stuff like chrono,
another target,hard case ect.
Waiting is rough, right now I'm bowless,(sold ultramag on ebay) so I hope I'm one of the guys that's
only waiting a couple weeks for my trykon to come in[&:],then I can start waiting for fall to.:(
happy shooting

I started this thread and still havent recieved my Trykon XL yet. The dealer told me he contacted Hoyt and it should be hereby themiddle of next month. It better be worth the wait!!!!

bowhunter79deer 01-30-2006 08:20 PM

RE: Hoyt Trykon

Dont feel bad loverboy you are not the only one waiting. I have been waiting about a month also. My dealer told me the other day 6-8 weeks from order date also. I guess we just have to remember good things come to those who wait. You must have an odd draw length like me.(31 1/2") The dealer has28 and 29" in the 33" and the xl but none of the long draws.
