Which Bow To Buy
I am fairly new to hunting this is my first year I bought a used bow a golden eagle I have a short drawlength 26 inches I am looking on buying a new bow and was wondering which is considered the best the 3 I am looking at are the 4 auctually the Bowtech Alligiance, and the Equalizer the Hoyt Trykon and the mathews Switchback.. what are the thoughts on these bows.. and so far have not gotten a chance to shoot at a deer but not giving up..

RE: Which Bow To Buy
and as an added sidenote I cannot shot the bows to help with making a decision my local proshop is not willing to order in bows within my drawlength spec because of the chance of not being able to sell them.. they have the Mathews and Hoyt in but the drawlenght and weight is too much for me all are 28 to 30 drawlwngth and 70 lb pull..

RE: Which Bow To Buy
Too bad you can not shoot them first. What is your draw length? I did shoot the Switchback XL and the Trykon. I felt there was a big difference and took the Trykon home. Others have gone the other way. Maybe you need to look at a different pro shop. Good luck to you.

You won't regret the Trykon.

RE: Which Bow To Buy
As stated eirlier my draw length is 26 inches all of the bows will accomidate that length The Bowtech are the fastest shooters the Trycon has a nice feel and the Switchback has a lot of nice features the local proshop is trying to push me towards the Equlizer I like the faster speed of the Aligenance, but what I think would be most important for me would be to get the most forgiving bow.. but not sure which that would be any yhoughts on that??

RE: Which Bow To Buy
Hoyt Tykon all the way. If for some reason you do not like that, then try out the Matthews Switchback. But the Trykon is the way to go.

RE: Which Bow To Buy
First of all you should find another Bowtech dealer. The 06 Bowtechs are all available with adjustable draw lengths by merely switching a module so the dealer is not stuck with a bow at all. Maybe he's stuck with a module if you don't buy it and they're probably about $5.00 cost to a dealer. As for your draw length, I have the exact same problem and length myself and am debating between the Equalizer and the Allegience. I am leaning to the Allegience due to it's adjustable draw cycle with the smooth or speed cams. The equalizer is only available with a speed cam. All that adjustability and top of the heap speed makes the 06 Bowtechs a great buy for us short draw guys. You have an easier time dealing it in than the fixed cam competition when you decide to upgrade. The Equalizer is probably a bit faster but I like the draw cycle option.

RE: Which Bow To Buy
Auctually the Alligiance is faster than the Equalizer,, the Equalizer will accomidate down to a 23 inch draw length where the Alligiance will only accomidate down to a 26 inch draw lenght and the Equalizer is the lighter of the two ..

RE: Which Bow To Buy
Good point at the lower 26 inch draw length the Equalizer very possibly is faster

RE: Which Bow To Buy
I have not shot the Equalizer but I'm sure it is a nice shooter. I would lean towards a Bowtech with the 06 cams. It was a pain to find the draw length I like with my 05 Defender. You have to change the entire cam on the 05 models requiring a bow press.
Have you shot the Tribute? That is probably the nicest bow I have ever shot IMPO. It is $100 more than the Allegiance but it may fit you better. It's not as fast but I think it is smoother with less hand shock. You didn't mention how tall you are but I'm guessing your not 6' with a 26" DL. Don't get me wrong, the Allegiance is a nice shooter also. I have shot the Trykon and didn't think the draw was a smooth as the Bowtech's. It is a very nice bow but I didn't like the draw and it made a twang sound on release. It sounded like the new string silencers weren't doing their job. Others have said that their Trkon does not so maybe something was loose on the one I shot. The Switchback is also a nice bow but it just didn't impress me as much as the Bowtechs or Hoyt and that is also just my personal opinion. It is hard to make a decision with all of the nice, higher end bows available now. Anyway you choose, you can't go wrong if you pick the one that fits you the best. |
RE: Which Bow To Buy
I just shot those and I bought the Switchback.

RE: Which Bow To Buy
Im 5`3 sounds like Im gona have to have another talk with local pro shop about getting in the bows in my drawlength so I can try them out and if they are not willing to do so will just find another proshop that would be willint to get in the ones I want to try out..

RE: Which Bow To Buy
Just read a scary post about BowTech Bows about limbs splitting .
is this a common problem with Bowtech Bows I would hate to buy a new bow and head out hunting and get ready to draw back on a deer and have a limb split the have to wait several months for new limbs and miss hunting for the rest of the season.. |
RE: Which Bow To Buy
I would try the switch back xt before i bought any thing!

RE: Which Bow To Buy
Got to check out the switchback and the alliance today the switchback is a little topheavy but still a sweet bow and the alliance is very sweet also but am going to wait till the proshop can get the tribute in and a trycon in my spec area to check them out..
