RE: Hunter Safety System Vest

I purchased the Tree Stalker Harness this year and love it. No more tangled straps and pissing around in the dark to get it on. In the stand the extra padding is nice on your back when sitting. The pockets are also a big plus for quick need items. This harness is much shorter than most on the market and I think that makes a BIG difference in fit.

Well folks - I can tell you this. I use the HSS with the provided safety rope that came with my Summit Viper 4 stand. Well guess what ??? Last year I slipped, and fell, and the HSS along with the safety rope system provided by Summit saved me... I weigh 230 lbs and am 6 ft tall... There I was, hanging up in a tree 21 ft up and was able to gather myself, and make my way to the ground using my Summit top unit.

Never tried the SOP but I can tell you - HSS will save your life.
What ever you do wear something. I lasso the tree I am climbing as soon as I start my climb. Well - Guess what - had I waited until I got to the top of my climb, I would not be typing this now....

ALSO - You can buy the safety rope from Summit, on line, at their web site. Guess what - I have 2 extra rope units. Only 15 bucks....for the best safety rope on the market, well at least to me...

Thanks HSS and Summit

The last post says it all. WEAR A FULL HARNESS!

I posted my findings from a personal view. I did not say to not buy the vest, I just simply stated my personal findings, likes and disklikes about it.

I have the HSS and it is a bit heavy but I cannot have a harness that gets tangled or even becomes tangled once in awhile. Because then I don't put it on, I did not even wear a harness until this year. Bottom line is I need something thats quick and easy. I don't plan on falling out of the tree anyway so the crotch discomfort will be tolerated as long as I have a harness that is easy and quick to use EVERYTIME I go out. Thats just my opinion and so I like the HSS.
