what is wrong with p s e
I bought a new pse Bruno the1'st of the year and i can not make it group[&o] I can bust knocks with my old bear white tail 2 that i bought 15 years ago but i sold it and went with a new one. I thought a 15 year newer bow would shoot better. I have try ed different rest different arrows nothing seems to help. any advise any one?

RE: what is wrong with p s e
My guess is that the new bow just needs a little time for you to get comfortable with it. Your 15 yr old bow was and is still a classic bow (ask me - I know.... I still shoot my old PSE bow and won't part with it!). Your old bow probably had 50% letoff or 65% letoff or something and was dual cam. The new bows are single cam or hybrids with 80% letoff and shoot a blazing 300+ feet a second! Translation: There might be a little bit of a learning curve with shooting a new wicked hot bow when you are used to your old reliable 15 year old bow.
....just my opinion. Butch A. |
RE: what is wrong with p s e
Have you paper tuned it ? That might point out a tuning problem that playing around with the rest won't fix.
|
RE: what is wrong with p s e
I would guess your older bow, you use a tab or glove. Now with bruin, you need a release. Finger shooting won't work on this short of bow. Also check your arrow wt and make sure the spine wt is rite for your draw wt and length

I shot a PSE avenger for three years with great success. They are not a piece of junk.
Paper tune the bow first. Then adjust and you should start shooting good groups. |
RE: what is wrong with p s e
Tune the bow! Its the shooter not the bow1:D

RE: what is wrong with p s e
I got my PSE Dakota last year and it took me quite awhile to get it dialed in. One problem was that there were a couple things off from the pro shop. Once I got it corrected it shoots great. Got it out 2 days ago and had 4of 5 arrows touching (1st shott luck, but still shot nice). PSE are good bows - get it to somebody for a good tuning.

PSE= parts scattered everywhere. How about....... PSE= precise shots encountered I have a PSE Bruin Rimfire and it's the only bow I have ever shot or owned. I have been practicing a lot and feel good with the groups I'm shooting....have yet to shoot at that big mule deer and will see how I do in three weeks....I know how the bow does. I knew going in that the PSE Bruin is an "entry" level bow and I might look at a BowTech, Hoyt or Mathews in the future....depends on results and whether I can blame poor results on me or the bow. I like this bow and until I have a good reason to spend a lot of money, I'll stick with it. brick shark.....did you spend any time at an archery shop getting fitted with your bow and getting help from the pros there? I'd recommend that if you haven't....makes a difference!! |

i am shooting the pse nova and my dad is shooting the pse firestorm lite. i like my bow and he likes his. they both shoot great
|
RE: what is wrong with p s e
take it to your bow shop and make sure it is at the right specs ie axle to axle. your string could have stretched
|
RE: what is wrong with p s e
I'm going out on a limb here to take a guess why your not getting good groups...
For one your old bow probably had over 40 inches axle to axle and was very forgiving on your shooting form... Now you have a PSE Bruin which is just over 30 something inches ATA that will tell you one thing, the shorter ATA your bow has the less forgiving it will be on poor shooting form and will reflect with poor shot groups. Your older bow was in a class of its own compared to todays bows and shooting equipment, just take awhile at your local proshop and get some help tuning it and I'm sure you will catch the hang of it soon and grow to like you r new bow alot more.... For you PSE haters, here's a little flash, PSE's new Vengance and Venom series shoot as good as Mathews Outbacks and Switchback and any other yuppie bow out there... Once I shot the Venom and Vengence I retired my Outback... PSE makes great equipment and there customer service is SECOND TO NONE, thats more than I can say about Mathews... |
RE: what is wrong with p s e
I have owned a PSE Nova, Thunder-flight and whatever the cheap but decent version was called before that. I have shot many dear with these bows and overall have been pleased. I thought that I would take the next step up and buy a PSE Mach 12. It was their flagship bow (Cost the most and was the fastest "I think")
I made a big mistake and bought itthrough the mailwithout shooting it. I swear that the thing almost jumped out of my hand when fired. It hurt my arm so much I could barely drive home. Anyway I sold it immediately. I just shot my dad's Switchback and WOW (Fast, Quiet, Accurate, oh yah and expensive). I don't want to get the same bow as him so I looked around but could not find anything as comfortable as the Switchback. I tried not to like Mathews but I can't help it. |
RE: what is wrong with p s e
I dont know about all the tuning but shouldn't he miss target in a group if he is shooting same everytime. It seems to me he should still be stacking arrows just not where he wants them

funny story: My buddy Richie has been begging me to go with him to get a bow, he is a new hunter. I served with him in the Marine Corps. Well i plan to meet him over my mom's house since she lives closer to him and we were planning on going to bass pro and get a 400dollar pse bruin package. My brother in law lives there too, has a pse nova he said he would sell richie for 275$ include everything 2 dozen arrows, rest, sights, quiver, rest, broad heads, I mean everything a bow hunter needs. Took to the local bow shop to get fitted for draw length, man he didnt need to change a thing!!!!!!!! I couldnt belive it, a bow that was already set up for him to shoot! Man he couldnt beat that deal with a mathews!! LOL
