Here in Michigan....
Here in Michigan you can bowfish for rough fish only. So we take Bowfins, Gar, and Carp. Some people shoot suckers, I perfer to spear them, since we smoke them up.

RE: Here in Michigan....
Hey! I just checked the SD GF&P website and it looks like I'll be bowfishing for paddlefish next month; I got a tag!
- of course, getting a tag and getting a fish are two completely different things, but as they say: you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket.

Coyote caller, have you ever been to the Great Lakes Bowfishing Championship in MI? I heard the winning team shot over 3000lbs of carp in two days. There must be a serious carp problem up there.

serious Carp problem
Now thats an understatement. The Great Lakes and it's tributaries are nothing but carp this time of the year. Any canal, river or small creeks, the water is boiling with carp, and gars. The bowfins usually will be in the marshes. Yes. I fished the tournament two years ago. And to see the fish brought in will amaze anyone.
